If diversity is your first consideration, that means doing a job right comes second. I have noticed that as time goes on, people seem to be more accepting of websites that crash, cars that don't run property, poor customer service, etc. Do you see any connection?

"It has to look good.....whether it works good may or may not matter" is a common modern American mistake.

It's very closely related to "It has to sound good, whether it is true or not may or may not matter".

Everywhere one looks this is found now.

WE USED TO BE BETTER

"Diversity is ruining everything!!11!!"

Pathetic and obvious bigotry.

Good to see you finally admit it.

Which is the most diverse country on earth? Which is the most successful?

So you're joining the bigot parade. That's good. Let everyone know how you feel about "others".

No, I'm not joining your parade. My position is, all men are created equal.

Yes, the connection that someone that believes diversity as discussed is bad, also believes other absurd conspiracy theories.

When I ran a wildland fire program I always went by "hire the best qualified person available". Back in the 80's that led to having a all female wildland fire engine crew. They were excellent. One of the best crews I had during my years in fire. Females on wildland fires back then were mostly provided administrative/procurement support. It was rare to have fireline female firefighters. This was all accomplished without diversity goals from upper management.

In the late 90's , early 2000's when being pressured to diversify more in fire management. I asked when the office public affairs and the administrative staff was going to diversify. They asked what do you mean? I said public affairs has 9 positions and all of them are females. You have no males. When are you going to hire males? Asked the same about administrative assistance positions. None were males. The supervisors stated that males generally don't apply for clerical assistance jobs or have public affairs type jobs. Told them, looks like they have as much to do as I do in fire. :lamo

People should hire the best candidate they can find for the position. Eventually diversity will sort itself out as the workforce makeup changes.

If you just apply math, you either maximize productivity or you maximize something else.
