This church is in the NC mountains and many folks in the NC mountains are hard core evangelicals in one form or another. Some espouse the handling of poisonous snakes, and some believe crap like this. Both are illegal, and that's why these people are in court right now.

It will be interesting to see how a jury from that area deals with the law versus such beliefs. In the link below, the nearest TV station to Rutherford County (WSPA in Spartanburg, SC), this was said about the jury: Trial begins for 1 of 5 accused of beating ex-WOFF church member

RUTHERFORD CO., N.C. (WSPA) – Nine men and five women have been selected as part of the jury in a trial connected to church abuse allegations.

Many jurors were excused for their knowledge of the church, some even calling it a “crazy cult.”

I've spent a heck of a lot of time up there. The Boy Scout camp that my family has donated a bunch of money to, and that our kids grew up attending, is located in the same county and about 5 miles from where this happened. There's a whole bunch of really good people there as well (DP has a member that lives next door to where this happened, and I live about 30 minutes away), but regarding the potential jury pool, the population percentage of evangelical's in the population is extremely high.

I have no problem with torturing, beating or even killing people to make them heterosexual.
However, this church clearly broke the NAP by holding him against his will. Clearly they did not get proper consent for what they've done.
Had they merely gotten permission from him to do this, I would be on the church's side. But nope, kidnapping is illegal for a good reason.

This could have all been avoiding had they simply followed the NAP... Y'all mutha****as need Ayn Rand

I won't... It won't work at all, it'll just leave you dead.

But, if you agree to die in order to send yourself to hell faster for being gay in order to forgo the anxiety associated with waiting to go to hell, that's fine
I'd imagine it'd be easier than just waiting to die knowing you'll go there for your sexuality, and since you can't stop being gay, the most logical option is to commit suicide and just hurry it up.
