And conservatives labor under the delusion that we can militarily invade and occupy a country and the people will thank us for it.

That is true unfortunately ,nothing can be compared to having children ,career is a good thing but not better than any kid you give birth to ,(I havent had one yet)

It not good people or bad people. Its people who have differing opinions and policies. Having differing opinions and policies to the liberals is all it takes for them to hate not only those differing opinions and policies, but also hate the people who have them.

Liberals are more likely to unfriend you over politics — online and off ...

It's as if liberals can't seem to emotionally separate themselves from their political positions, that they are one in the same.

Not sure if emotionally based political positions are really the best way to go on those.
 
Perhaps the title of the thread could be changed to American Culture's...

Relatively speaking, that's true though, not a lie. Which other governments now or in all of recorded history afford their people more of those two values than the U.S. in some dramatic way jdog?

You are delusional. You have absolutely no self determination whatsoever. The government makes the rules and you do as you are told. The purpose of the government is to keep the unwashed masses in line and doing what the oligarch class wants them to do.

Understanding and being realistic about what government is and does is not the same as condoning the worst aspects of it. Accusing people that argue in the context, 'what is' rather than, 'what you want to be' of being slaves etc as you have above is just ridiculous rhetoric and actually would not sound out of place coming from a revolutionary communist.

So you can't answer the question I asked you, but instead posted this..delusional conjecture.

I'll answer it for you. The U.S. and other peer nations are some of the most free nations in the history of the world, and not just for the elite/nobility/royalty, for hundreds of millions of people.
The idea that there is this mysterious and seductive "way to live free" that no one knows about, or can point to in history, and that can't directly be answered lest it disappear in a puff of smoke, is ****ing hilarious.
