Truth

What is truth?

Perception/Reality Reality/Perception

The things in each of our lives will alter our perceptions and the perceptions about our life will alter our lives. These things we allow to alter our perceptions and our lives is each of our subjective truths.

That is my subjective summary on what is truth.

I work in the residential construction field.

The truth usually turns out to be a lie that hasn't ripened enough.

Truth is a relation between propositions and the world, to be precise the relation of correspondence between a proposition and the state of affairs in the world asserted by the proposition.

Falsehood is the lack of such correspondence.

Truth is whatever is useful to you in the moment.

well what is

seems to make up a good chunk of it at least

Truth, put simply, is what is. It's not perceptive or relative or any of the other things. It just is.

Truth is concrete...truth is firm, trustworthy, stable, faithful, true, or fact...truth does not change...

Well, it all depends on what your definition of 'truth' is. It seems that moral truths change over time. However, if you use Truth as something that is factual, then facts stay the same. What type of truth are you talking about?

I don't think so...people change over time...the Bible says "God's Word is Truth..."

The bible, and how it is interpreted has changed over time too. People translate on a number of occasions, and translation is interpretation. The interpretation changes it.

Yet the truth is still there...

Yet the truth is still there...

Yet, the 'truth' changes. For example, if you look at the translation of the New Testament that the Jehovah Witnesses use verses the Catholics, or the Evangelistic Protestents, there are differences. Is the Trinity the truth, or is it a false?? The nature of Jesus is different between the Jehovah Witness, the Catholics/protestants and the mormons. Each claim their view is 'The truth'.. and the view points are mutually exclusive.

I suppose we'll find out in the end...with the truth I've learned, I'm willing to take my chances...

Yet, when it comes to what is claimed to be 'moral truths'.. things have changed. The interpretation and translations of the bible have changed. There is no thing you can SHOW is an absolute moral truth. You can show in modern society , it is near universal.. but absolute??

No they haven't...as I said before, people change...God nor His standards change...Hebrews 13:8 says “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, and forever”...if he remains the same we can be sure God does not change...

Well.. Not all religious writings have the Book of Hebrews in it. That is a change, right then and there.

“For I am Jehovah; I do not change..." Malachi 3:6

And, at one point, Malachi was not in scripture either.

Oh, and at that time, God was not a literal father, yet, according to the Christians he become so, and that's a change.

You do have some dates wrong. The Vedas was written between 1000bc and 1500bc . The Torah appears to ave been actually written down actually in the 7th century bce, despite the orthodox tradition that it is older. that makes it the Vedas older.

Also, the Egyptian book of the dead was composed about 1550 bc

The Pyramid Texts: The Oldest Known Religious Texts (Circa 2,400 BCE ? 2,300 BCE) : HistoryofInformation.com

Thanks...there seems to be several conflicting reports of what is the oldest...this article says it's ' the Kesh Temple Hymn of Ancient Sumer-a set of inscribed clay tablets which scholars typically date around 2600 BCE'...I guess at best they are merely estimating...

I did find this quote interesting...

It is not possible to create an exhaustive list of religious texts, because there is no single definition of which texts are recognized as religious.

Truth is what you believe to be true at given points in time, and, truth is what is there irrespective of you altogether.
