I think science is or has already revealed our location to the universe...so the decision is no longer valid. Who knows...aliens might already be among us. See "Under the Skin".

It would be nice to know if there were other life in the universe besides us...but...maybe Hawking was right...aliens could be just as hostile or worse than humans.

Many predators can thrive beautifully on human flesh.

Of course, any plant or critter on another planet is likely to be poisonous. Which would also be true for aliens coming here.

Actually, they only eat souls. .. that's why they interfered with human religion, so people will give their souls to go to 'heaven' , but are actually just getting eaten.

Given the mathematical near-inevitability that any existing extraterrestrial civilization is going to be hundreds of thousands of years more advanced than ours, I couldn't justify taking that risk. A wise man doesn't get the gods' attention until he knows for certain that they are benevolent.

If they can detect our primitive means of communicating, then they aren't advanced enough to get to us. If they can get to us, then they're already using an energy economy that is beyond ours and we don't have anything they'd really need. with enough energy you can scientifically create any resource you need through matter manipulation.

not sure the detection thing follows even if we find a faster way to talk then radio that dosent mean we wont remember to keep an eye out for it

and you only need ftl travel to get around fast as long as the aliens are in are local group of galaxy's they could go sub light and get to us some day

and if they are in range to detect are signals then they are not that far away and could get hear in century s or less at sub light speeds
