So, How Tall do you want the Wall to be ?

I wonder what the environmental impact of millions of illegals is as well.
If incentives are gone, and home countries are improved, perhaps we see less illegals trying to make it across, but that is a dream.
As for the Donald, perhaps he should contemplate a dome, with little shoots for permissible and carefully vetted airplanes/crew and passenger and such, electrified of course and mantled so that no evil can ever enter our country.
Don could serve as a bobble head atop, hair waving in air...or so the story goes.

I wasnt talking about some minimum security prison/country club. I was talking about a federal prison where you get up at 4am fall into formation and do calisthenics before breakfast. No returning to your bed until just before so called lights out. Zero privileges etc.
 
Has anyone ever thought of English only t/o the US? From job requirement to applying for anything to reading the paper to watching TV to making a phone call to grocery shopping.

Can we really put millions of people in jail for a non violent crime? Think of the cost. As opposed to just stopping them from crossing in the first place. And when they come out they are worse criminals than before.

I certainly didnt imply putting millions in prisons. And I suspect that you havent really seen much of the border and dont realize how secluded most of it is. You would need to employee thousands of border patrol agents to stop people at the border. Where is the money going to come from to employee all of those people?


Nobody wants in the cookie jar if there are no cookies. Take the cookies away and replace them with a mouse trap. When word gets around that there is a trap in the cookie jar people will stop putting their hands in it.
 
It depends on if he will be building the wall with his own tiny hands or with the aid of illegal Polish immigrants...

You said giving people prison time.

The people you are referring to are the illegal immigrants. Which number in the millions. As to the money to guard the border, it would come from taxes. I have no problem paying it.

I made a generalized statement, I am not here to lay out detailed policies, dealing with illegal entry into the US.

If you want to believe that I want millions in prison, then sure have at it. I didnt say or mean that, but that doesnt seem to be a problem for you.
My point is that something should be done to deter people from not coming here legally. Building walls is stupid and wont stop the people that want to come here illegally. But if we convince them that it is not a option to come here illegally we can police our borders much more efficiently, and keep out those that truly are up to no good.

I am not running for president. It isnt like I pretending that I wasnt generalizing. So yes I can say whatever I want no matter how much you disprove of it.

I still maintain that it would be better to fix the problem, instead of building a expensive wall that wont work as intended.

The wall is part of the solution. It is not the whole solution. And it shouldn't be just a wall in the middle of nowhere, it should be mined and machine gunned. Nobody should even get close to the wall. Otherwise, we have to end jobs and benefits for illegals. It is a comprehensive solution, not just a wall.
 
there's shouldn't be a wall.... it's unnecessary.

treating illegal immigrants to benefits that only citizens should enjoy is also unnecessary.

the fact of the matter is this, any country that makes the choice to not protect it's borders, in some fashion, gets what it deserves in due course.
portions of this country filling up with millions of people who bear loyalty to another country will have it's consequences.... and if you're a fan of the USofA, they won't be "good" consequences.

the problem too many folks have is either they view the immigration of today as the same as it was when immigrants cam through ellis island... or , on the other side, they view immigration today as an invading army.
neither is true or accurate....
unchecked/unregualted immigration is a problem on all fronts.... but it's going to take much smarter policies that " build a fence" or " open the borders" to address is adequately....going either route, to me, is simply saying " **** the United States, our national identity is worthless... let's kill it"

according to the pro-illegal immigration folks.. .it would be a great boon to Mexico if low wage/low skilled workers started bailing out for Mexico....
somehow they aren't a boon for their home country while they are actually living there, but if they happen to flood into another country, they magically become a net benefit.

If you had machine guns and minefield why the **** would you need a wall? I can understand a good security fence in highly populated areas. Of course those are the places where they build tunnels. If we enforced removing undocumented workers/illegals and punishing their employers severely, most people that would have crossed the border would have no reason to. Plus if we refused to take care of illegals health and deported them to Mexican authorities, giving the responsibility back to Mexico. We would then not have all of those Mexicans illegally crossing the border, then we could employee a better border patrol that could stop the actual bad people from crossing.

Except for the whole anchor baby situation which is not going to change. Except for people coming here to engage in crimes and sell drugs. The people we have to worry about most aren't the ones who want to be productive citizens, it's the ones who want to take advantage of the system. It isn't just a wall we need to erect, it's a whole system that stops them from crossing the border, period. Dead or alive.
