if not why should we convert to atheism ?

if not why should we convert to atheism ?

Atheism is simply lack of belief in God. I know many atheists with political opinions and philosophical ideas all over the spectrum.

You should convert to agnosticism simply based on the premise that the burden of proof in favor of God/religion simply isn't there.

My personal philosophy is humanism.

I'm not sure what you're asking.

Either you believe in supernatural powers, or you don't.

Why is not believing in the existence of magical imaginary beings a philosophy? Is not believing in the tooth fairy a philosophy? My philosophy is try not to hurt anyone or take advantage of anyone.

if so why are believers always insulted by smarter atheists ?

There is no conversion, there are no clergy, and there is no doctrine of any kind. It's simply not believing in god. You can edit, modify or tack on any philosophical belief you want onto it, just believe what you want to believe. For instance, I'm an atheist, but also a secular humanist and philosophical taoist. Find what makes sense to YOU and don't just follow the herd.

you can be both humanist and believer at the same time

I can't speak for others but I don't particularly care for fundamentalists of any religion.

There are plenty of believers of religions who reconcile science with their faith and I have all the respect in the world for that. For instance, the Catholic Church I believe back in the 60's declared that evolution does not go against the word of God.

If you want to sit there and tell me that the Earth was poofed in 7 days and that woman came from a man's rib, and that some 700 year old dude named Noah put 2 of every animal on his ark while God drowned the whole planet then you're going to get ridiculed, period.

Because it entails certain metaphysical and ontological beliefs.

A "philosophy" usually isn't so specific.

But yes, belief or disbelief in fairies is part of one's philosophical outlook.

That's ethics, which is only part of one's philosophy.

You may not consciously think about the other aspects, but surely you have other philosophical views.

Not claiming you can't. And I have no problem with people of faith. I have a problem with people who deny science. If you want to reconcile your faith with science, then I respect that. I don't speak for other atheists though.

I dunno. Why are so many atheists disparaged by religious people?

And I still don't know what you are asking in your initial post.

ok this is not shopping list either.

But there is heavy proselytizing.

Nor me. Atheism does not promise anything, unlike religions.

of course but smarter atheists always claim the opposite

if these two are the same in terms of not promising anything, lets not insult religions or believers

Believing that something as complex as even the simplest living organisms (need to be able to consume and metabolize food, procreate, ect) poofed together out of non-living chemicals should either garner the same level of ridicule or perhaps even higher.

I am of the opinion that all gods are inventions of mankind. That is not an insult.

Why could that not happen over millions and millions of years? Your disbelief is not proof.

Do you take a literal approach to the Bible or are you able to reconcile science with the Bible?

For instance, do you believe God LITERALLY created the Earth in 7 days or do you believe this is a metaphor/allegory? Do you believe a man lived inside a whale? Do you believe in the story of Noah? Do you believe women came from the rib of a man?

Most Christians I know don't literally believe all these things. And if you feel like you've been disparaged by atheists for your faith, I apologize. But if you literally believe every single word of the Bible, and by literal I mean you can't decipher what is true and what is potentially a metaphor, then that to me means you are denying the brilliant work of scientists all over the world for the last couple centuries.

you spend your time here by claiming there is no god,do you really think it seems logical to you?you spend your time for something that does not exist
