Anonymous Internet Forums - Being Bullied

I dont really like forums to be anonymous. I know that intelligence agencies know who everyone is - but I think it would be better if all members of forums had to use their real names. I kind of agree with Zuckerberg that if someone says something then they should own it. But I do not really agree with getting hysterical about cyberbully. The other day I told a forum user on another site that he was a retard and that he should leave Australia. He is not Australian so I asked if he was still in Australia - and if he was then he should leave. So he acts all cyberbullied and writes a thread saying that he is leaving the forum because he has been threatened and the mods didnt do anything about it. I wondered how the hell he felt threatened since I dont even know who he is - and the best I could come up with is that I asked if he was still in Australia. He actually implied that I am a cyberterrorist. It really annoyed me. I asked him if he was still in Australia not because I was going to hunt him down and get him - but so he wouldnt tell me like a smart alec that he has already left Australia. What a retard. Im still annoyed about it. If he was genuine he would have called the cops - and they would have told him to [SNIP] off and stop wasting their time.

With DP though - I do use my own picture - and even though there is kind of strict moderation for some - a person can write a thread in the no rules part of the forum like the Spangledbanner thread - and say some kind of horrible things. No matter what is said - unless a direct threat - I think that it is ok - but it does verge on bullying - especially by modern US standards. Like if I was some easily upset guy with depression or something - then the stuff said to me in the no rules part might be kind of upsetting - and it is a kind of lame excuse to say that I asked to join. For all anyone knows I am a teenage kid - or younger. I think that the no rules part of the forum is somewhat irresponsible - but at the end of the day I do not think that a person can be 'bullied to death'. If someone harms themselves over 'bullying' then there was more wrong with them than just being bullied. And yeah - people can leave the forum - and do not have to post pictures of themselves or reveal any information about themselves.

I have been bullied at other sites, and when I joined here, guess what....the psycho nut jobs followed me here and attempted to do it again.

FORTUNATELY our wonderful group of moderators solved the issue.

When it comes to some people over the internet, you have no idea how crazy they can get and the lengths they will go to, just to cause you grief.

As long as it is confined to the internet, all you need is a thick skin. No big deal.

If their antics start to venture into real life, then a good printer (to get a hard copy of everything) and a pistol is what you need.
