A Possible Solution to The Grandfather paradox

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hafele–Keating_experiment

"In October 1971, Joseph C. Hafele, a physicist, and Richard E. Keating, an astronomer, took four cesium-beam atomic clocks aboard commercial airliners. They flew twice around the world, first eastward, then westward, and compared the clocks against others that remained at the United States Naval Observatory. When reunited, the three sets of clocks were found to disagree with one another, and their differences were consistent with the predictions of special and general relativity."

Yah I remember this from science class in college.

Thus it should be possible to build a spacecraft that travel in orbit at very high velocity, then return to earth, and the time change on earth will have been greater than the time on the vehicle. This principle has already been proven using atomic clocks aboard aircraft.

Assuming we could build such a vehicle, we are still travelling forward in time, albeit minutely more slowly.

Okay, i am going to attempt some completely original speculation. however, I must stress that this absolutely IS mere speculation, and there is no way i can prove it using scientific means.

For those who don't know about the grandfather paradox, here is the wiki on the subject:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grandfather_paradox

I happen to enjoy stories about time travel, and i tend to think about this paradox from time to time. i think I might have come up with a good solution.

If you still exist after you shot your grandfather, then that might mean just one thing.

You have traveled into another dimension.so therefore, time travel IS dimensional travel.

This was just a stray thought that came to me, and I don't know how to properly address is as I am not scientifically minded.

But i do think it is the right answer. I might be wrong, but i don't think so.

However, it does raise a lot of questions that i simply don't know how to answer.

There is simply no other way to resolve the paradox. because you can't exist if you shot your father, therefore you can go back in time to shoot your father, therefore your father lives to give birth to you again.

just my :twocents:

Thats basically the theory of time travel Crichton used in Timeline
