We sometimes hear that some people are attracted to the dangerous activities. Why? Is it normal?

Danger produces a drug in the blood.

Every man dies, not every man really lives.

Adrenaline is a hell of a drug, and the rush from it does create a completely natural high.

Because it becomes an addiction once hooked on, like just about any other addiction. joG is right, it comes down to the psychology of our own physiological makeup.

The best way to put this is based on perception of the activity, our brain is equipped with various reward mechanisms that are chemically activated when we are subjected to surviving extreme experiences. It involves both the physical effects of the hormone adrenaline on the body and the mental effects of the nerve signal dopamine. When it comes to the most extreme activities your mind and your body react to the condition, to those that enjoy those events they have become hooked on both physical impact and then the mental exhilaration. Even the mental reward is something subject to addiction.

Saw a guy walk a wire over a canyon or gap the other day with no safety strap and he intentionally fell for some reason as he started his walk. I never can attach myself to such people.

It's real. Adrenaline is something else. :)

And there is no such thing as "Normal". I play with 1800 degrees fire and molten glass all day thats my Normal......

Too bored to live any more

I think that there are people who are really addicted to the adrenaline rush that comes from death-defying acts.
