Proof God Does Not Answer Prayer

by all appearance and accounts, is a spiteful, merciless tyrant...
It seems you may be just as limited by your earthy sack of flesh as believers.

Where does the OP mention the Christian god? People pray to all sorts of gods, not just that one.

The singular was used rather than a plural, and the "G" was capped, so I think it's fair to assume that the reference was to the Abrahamic God.

Paranoid much?

How is someone losing their business for refusing to participate in a same sex marriage, paranoia? Why is reality such a difficult concept to most libs?

Any meaning of omnipotence that doesn't exclude paradox is meaningless. Though I suppose any being smart enough could find a loophole.

Faith can move mountains.

Tectonic plates move mountains.

But by all means, back that up. List the number of mountains to date that have been relocated via faith.

But of course. I care about my earthy sack of flesh, every bit as much as you do, and while I inhabit it, I desire freedom.

Ah, so you are apathetic about your apathy also.

Of course we can count the Gazing Ball that my really weird cat-loving neighbor worships.....

It remains only your assumption, and we all know what they do.......

Oh looky, another Christian bashing thread in the "philosophical discussions" forum. Most unusual.

It's not really, but now I'm inclined to bash you over your arrogant belief that Christianity is the only religion and that Christians are the only people with faith. Not everything about faith or religion is about yours.

The real evidence that there is no god was the holocaust. 6 million of his own people praying and suffering, and he wouldn't lift a single finger to do anything about it. Mortal men with everything to lose took fate into their own hands and risked their own lives to end the holocaust. What blows my mind is the religious who are so arrogant to think that god managed to ignore 6 million murders of his own people, but that he's going to intervene in their piddly ass problems.

There is a substantial portion of Jews who are essentially atheist because of the holocaust. There really is no way to reconcile the idea that there's a powerful god who loves and protects you, and one who allows that kind of horror to happen. The holocaust wiped out nearly a third of the entire Jewish population in the world. I imagine that if a similar fate befell Christians or Muslims, they would have a lot of trouble with their faith, as well.

Here's one now. You seriously think that he ignores the prayers of people being tortured and murdered but he answers your prayers because you're special? Maybe the Jews in the concentration camps didn't starve themselves enough to appease him?

Every time someone prays for something, there's likely someone else praying for the exact opposite. The notion of answered prayers is just taking random chance and statistics as if they were personal.

Flawed atheist logic. This is proof God doesn't answer ALL prayer, an obvious straw-man. If God exists he is fully capable of answering some prayers and ignoring some others. Having an answering machine doesn't mean you never pick up.

So your argument then is that god is capricious and cruel? God could save children dying in agony, but chooses not to. And you think this is points in this god's favor?

It is interesting that I have heard of prayer healing arthritis, back pain, migraines, and things like that.

And yet, never once, have I heard of prayer healing a lost limb. Why does God hate amputees?

I see all the hatred and venom bigoted anti-religious people spew on a regular basis. I find it comical...but then I have a very dark sense of humor.

I wonder...what difference does it make to the OP or anyone else if people in their most dire moments seek comfort through prayer? Oh...Im not talking about the circumstance where all you have to do is climb into the boat to save yourself from drowning instead of waiting for God to translate you. No...I mean in a situation with a near impossible set of circumstances...what hard does it do that some of those passengers turned to God for peace? What would you have them do...rush the drink carts and pound as much alcohol in 8 minutes as they can? Maybe you would have preferred they host the largest mile high club party ever.

Now...personally I agree that God doesn't always grant the desires of our prayers. I dont believe in asking for God to move mountains...I ask him for wisdom and serenity to understand the mountains and maybe even express gratitude for them. I recognize that as a father I cant rush in and solve all my childrens problems and that teaching them that philosophy early can have devastating results later. I try to learn what lessons I can and be a better husband and father. But...to those that DO pray for such things...good for them and peace be with them.

But what is it about YOUR OWN miserable pathetic existence that causes you to invest so much of yourself in hatred of people and a belief that you have no connection to or association with?

I don't hate theists. Everyone is entitled to their beliefs.

There we go again, another believer with telepathic powers that enable you to know all about the lives of people that you have never met. My life is not pathetic. Not believing in the existence of a god does not lead to a pathetic life.

No...no...not at all. But feeling the need to vent your spleen towards them does. If you arent one of those types...good for you. But then...if you arent...why did you take it so personally? Twice?

Saying that all atheists have pathetic lives is a patently ridiculous statement. That's all I wanted to say. It may apply to some atheists but I am sure that some believers have pathetic lives too. I have no spleen to vent.

ANd of course, all you have to do to prove your point is identify where I said ALL ATHEISTS live pathetic lives. No...I specifically said the ones that feel compelled to regularly create an outlet for their hatred. You still seem to want to own that. Hmmmmmmm........
