the concept of God

what do you say about this quote cited from another site?they were asked what kind of God would be their ideal god

'The problem is... "God" can't exist. There is no way that some being could be somewhere, forever, with no beginning or end, or food source, capable of controlling everything... I could go on, but it's sufficient to say, the idea of god is ridiculous, if you really think about it.

That person expressed a common attitude among atheists, which can be summarized as "my ignorance invalidates your knowledge".

The claim itself is too stupid to be either worthy of rebuttal or of much interest in itself, what is more interesting is why otherwise intelligent people would make arguments like that.

whatever you want it to mean?

To me it means a fundamental force, probably consisting of pure of energy, which we have not yet defined.

What's wrong with, you know, regular energy? It seems to do the job just fine. Plus, we have four fundamental forces. One of them doesn't make any damn sense, though. (It's gravity. Gravity is the weird one that makes no sense.)

Something which lies behind gravity, nuclear forces and electromagnetism, obviously.

Why do they need something behind them?

we call it GOD.

Which is a silly thing to do. Gods are anthropomorphic personifications of forces of nature. Calling the fundamental forces of the universe gods or a god just obscures what you're talking about. They're not gods. They're just forces.

Ok now I am asking the same question to you too.which gods are you referring to ?

you know atheists are always smarter than any believer  while believers are usually stupid

the one which you feel

What if we don't feel any god? Does that mean there is none or we're just broken?

Not necessarily smarter, but the former tends to base their lives on evidence, while the latter tends to base their lives on their feelings, faith and what they want to be true. All of which are entirely subjective.

congratulations for the likes you will get for this comment:mrgreen:

personally I base my life on what I believe to be true .and thats different from ' what they want to be true.'I still try to understand how this great universe or universes work and just because I dont believe the explanation ' there is no evidence ' made by non believers doesnt mean I as a believer never question the roots of our existence . faith is something more than looking for evidence

Well said, but not spooky enough for believers.

no but I believe everyone has their own gods in their hearts

The heart is a powerful muscle. You mean in their brains. The only place that gods exist.

The vast majority who have ever been worshiped throughout human history. This includes the god of Judaism, which both Muslims and Christians also worship. Almost every god is an anthropomorphic personification of the forces of nature. This has, of course, fallen out of style with modern interpretations of those same myths, because we now actually understand the forces of nature, and don't need to assume that they operate in human terms.

Anthropomorphic personifications of the forces of nature is, for the majority of human history, what the concept of god meant.

What if we don't feel any god? Does that mean there is none or we're just broken?

I've always wondered that, too. Lots of people claim that their faith comes from personal interactions with a god. You and I don't have those interactions. But presumably, if we did, we'd have faith too. So, why is this god denying us the thing we need to have faith? It seems rather an unkind thing to do.

LOL. If atheists are smarter then why are they going to wind up in Hell when they die (Revelation 21:8, etc.)?

sometimes I believe even this life is less real then hell.agree ?

WHO said that ?

Humans. Are you unaware of the multitude of gods we once had and the multitude we have now? In a few hundred years we'll likely have slightly different sets of gods.

Humans have believed in many gods. No god has yet proven itself to be infinitely stable.

It's not a problem. No gods exist, we know that much. A refusal of accepting a random unsubstantiated claim is not a problem. There are no gods.
