What Does God Do?

The Bible if you care to read it. Or talk to any number of the billions of Christians in the world.

How many believers does it take for a god to become real?

Ah, religion hate speech. I think sometimes the internet was invented to give that a voice otherwise hushed down by the grown ups of the world.

It's not hate speech, it's REALITY! Maybe you ought to learn more about it and stop believing in imaginary people in the sky.

This is sort of how I envision what God does during his spare time.......

The God in my concepts doesn't "do" anything. It just exists, and can be a part of what I do, myself, as a motivational factor, and as a source of what I will refer to as energy or inspiration. It is something which I can't separate myself from.

Then, how can you say that your god concept is anything different that, well you being you? Or, doesn't that matter to you?

Has anything ever been written about what God does and not just a specific religion rather any religion? What does the God do on a "daily basis" for lack of a better way to put it? I guess one answer is God watches over everything all the time which is stupid.

I don't know what god does, but I've heard that god is omnipotent...so I guess god does whatever he/she wants to do.

It certainly isn't energy, that word has a specific meaning. I cringe when I hear it misused in sentences like "There is a lot of positive energy in this room". I always ask if they mean kinetic, potential, thermal, electrical, electrochemical, electromagnetic or nuclear. What they actually mean is that they like the subjective atmosphere in the room.
The nice thing about concepts is that they are our own. Your assessment of my concept doesn't mean anything, nor is it accurate.

I didnt say that, and you are right. I could say it is the same as me, but to me, it doesnt seem accurate. It is pretty much a symbiotic relationship.

The assumption is that: God with all its features exists and is real to us all and this belief has been well established to everyone. So now, the next order of business, is what does it do?

How about: God does not exist in reality because there is no actual empirical evidence to support such a notion? While, if it exists subjectively within you, it can do whatever you damn please.

God gave us life and free will. At that point, his job was done.

IMO, as the universe is constantly expanding, creation continues. I do agree that he gave us free well and therefore has no need to meddle in the lives of physical beings.

What form does your energy take?

I'm pretty sure He creates natural disasters to kill homosexuals, blesses a church that hides paedophiles, makes white people win the lottery and black people starve, He causes minor ailments in the elderly to heal, and children to die.

What a nice chap.

Christianity says we are made in his image. Since we live moment to moment would not it then make sense that what God "does" is done on a moment to moment basis as well?
If that is acceptable why then do we experience evil and good? Think of it as "control". Does God control? Also, if life is moment to moment why then does God forgive all sins if the sinners asks for forgiveness at the last moment of their life?

Which make believe god are you talking about? I ask because the roll playing will be specific depending on context.

To hear most people tell, God damns things on demand every day.

But I think what God does every day is provide us with connection.

After all, we're talking about God every day, all over the world, talking about whether he exists, or not, what he does or doesn't care about, or do, or mean, here, throughout the universe, with respect to the past, present, the future, how powerful he is or isn't, how eternal, how knowledgeable he is or isn't, how he manifests the laws of physics we know about, how he affects our lives, what he has planned for us or doesn't have planned, how he affects life in the now and our own hereafter, how he communicates, and if we can so "ESP" communicate with each other anywhere in the world or in the universe ...

And in the process of so talking we are reminded of our awesome singularity nature and that we can so connect with each other, both in actuality, and in wondering about the nature of things and if there's anyone who cares about us, if there's anyone to whom we matter, especially if we've lost people in our life who cared or in the face of our own looming expiration.

Thus God provides us with an experience of universal connection like no one or no other thing .. and that experience of connection gives us peace and hope which is essential to our quality of life.

I would hate to think of how existentially anguishing it would be to experience such isolation as would be experienced without God. Damn it -- that would be painful.

I guess you don't believe in heaven then. How horrible it would be if we were all happy.

Yea. It would be quite frankly. No death? What the hell would happen to our planet? To the animals? The trees? The bushes? Fruit? We are talking about earth. Not heaven.

God didn't have to invent child cancer or insects that burrow into your eyes, but if he exists, he did and he does nothing about it. Then, when someone is done suffering through extreme poverty and violence, they are greeted by eternal torture for not living in a Christian culture.

Ok. So it is Christian culture you are mad at then? Lol. Of course that isn't surprising. But. Anyway. You obviously don't know much about Christianity then. "He who is first shall be last and the last shall be first." Pretty important concept. You suffer here, you get more later. Cosmic justice? Karma? It isn't unique to Christian culture, but I would think anyone who just wants to trash the evil Christians would know that piece.

And who says God wouldn't take into account those who are never exposed? Or are only exposed to islam? I certainly don't have that answer, I fail to see how you or any other human could.

If god exists there is no doubt that he's a ****ing asshole.

Right. Because he didn't make your life happy and we don't all drive lambos and have supermodel wives and mansions. Never mind that if there is a God (and I do believe in God and I am a Christian...I'm just playing out logically here), he would probably have set suffering and death out for a reason. Our knowledge and understanding of the "reason" is infantile. We might as well ask an ant about why man builds skyscrapers.

"God is a comedian playing to an audience too afraid to laugh."

Not where I live. Nobody ever mentions god.

......whatever the hell he wants.

The bible is pretty clear: If you don't accept christ, you go to hell. It's that simple. I pointed out that horrible things happen to people at no fault of their own, like child cancer, and you fire back with "oh well we can't all have mansions and labos". Wtf?

The only point I really want to make is that if we were actually playing a game for our eternal souls, I think an omnipotent creator would make the rules of the game a little more clear and not up to subjective interpretation. There is absolutely no way to prove one religion over another, yet I'm going to burn in hell for picking the wrong one. How can you call that justice?

I thought that it wasn't worth responding to his christian aplogist rant. You put it very well.

He let's a lot of stiff-necked heathens live another day so that they might wise up and get saved.
