personel development gurus are wrong about it ? perceiving the painful sides of the life and accepting it as it is seems more reasonable ? the law of attraction means being optimistic and hopeful about our lives or is it just a cosmic system that advises us to knoww how to get what we want from the life ? is there something called ' evil' ? does everything has a good side ?

True artistic development usually has experience of negative things in life. There is something like belief in your own self which is a form of optimism. I think this is important, as it is continually attacked by other people. If someone doesnt like you, they try to attack your belief in yourself. I have found this true more in western nations that optimism is more exaggerated up and also put down more extremely. though in art such as music, I think in Spain there is something calle Fado, a musical form that is basically like the blues but revolves around accepting things you cant change in life or embracing the downside.

Half of life sucks and the other half is OK.

I saw a documentary once about the last days of Adolf Hitler in the bunker and his mistress / wife decided to have a dance with maybe 100 or so people and they were all determined to be happy and to be positive and optimistic and in fact a Russian bomb hit the bunker while the dance was going on and both Hitler and his wife would commit suicide shortly thereafter.

This was a powerful image to me ever after.

That human beings can literally ignore evil and ignore reality and just pretend to be happy and that is NOT something to admire.

I see the same thing with those motivational speakers and personal development gurus who teach about being happy and be proud and just tell your self that everything is wonderful - so yes anyone can do that, but it is living a lie and undermining their own life with nonsense.

There is an old and valuable and different message from the Buddha called the first noble truth which is that the one reality of life is that we all have pain and sorrow and suffering, and that is an absolute truth, so we can act happy but that happiness is temporary and it is always covering up the hard realities of pain and sorrow. That is a part of the message of Jesus too in that Jesus said to take up our own cross - and not to toot our own trumpet.

l agree tht buddhism suggets this which l find a little pessimistic .this acceptence of life is called 'resignation to god's will' in QURAN that helps one show patience to the painful events

That is it exactly, so you and I are on the same page.

A little pessimism is just accepting the reality of this world. We still have fun and have pleasure but people are not to hide away from reality.

Both the Buddha and the Qur'an are way ahead of Christianity and secularism, and it was never meant to be that way.

Christianity got overwhelmed and subjugated by the evils of Capitalism, and now it is stuck there.

Having peace of mind - yes, and having control of our senses, just as Jesus hung on the cross He thought about providing care for His mother and forgiving the Roman executioners, so yes we accept God's will and the hard realities of life and that is the right and healthy way to live.

I remember that bin Laden once said that - "We love death. The U.S. loves life. That is the big difference between us."

And he was correct because death is our one true reality for every person, while the USA is mixed up in silly games and pretensions that life is so wonderful, as if we are just a nation of spoiled brats and pampered adults who never grow up.

"Too much of ... is wrong"

You can complete that sentence and a majority of the time you will have a truthful statement. Although, I think finding the exceptions to that would be enlightening.

partly l agree this time because it is not about only one country or religion .people generally seem to get lost in a materialistic world

There is another example of the Titanic where the Band kept playing their music as the ship was sinking.

In my view there was a huge distinction in that the Band played on to sooth and to calm the emergency and the fears of the passengers instead of being in denial of reality.

It could be said that the Nazis (as told above) were just trying to calm their own fears too, except the Titanic was an unforeseen accident and not self created.

To be optimistic WITHOUT just-cause being based on truth or reality - that is when optimism is out of line.

This is quite a fascinating discussion, they should analyze this in Sunday School to make the children stop asking their parents questions about stuff they should be discussing with themselves.

If optimism is a good thing, as it brings about activity, and, in the absence of activity nothing happens, there can never be too much positivity.
