Little girl yells at street preacher

Frankly I think the man was being an incredibly selfish "rude little brat". He doesn't like Halloween celebrations? Then simply walk away or stay home on that night instead of spoiling the family fun atmosphere by using a microphone to amplify his obnoxious yelling. Doesn't matter what the content of his 'message' was.

It's a bit hard to 'walk away' when someone is using a microphone and amplifier in a public space.

And if the messenger was delivering a message that you supported and approved of, would you then see the child as a rude little brat?
I don't care what the message is, whether it is something I approve of and support, or one I disapprove of and don't support. The child was acting like a rude brat.

If it were a little girl evangelizing, would you all think she was OK? Even if she was obnoxious and yelling at passerby's and calling them sinners?

Exactly. Shame on her, and shame on her parents for rearing such a hateful little winch. I am always amazed at those who love that we have free speech, as long as they agree with the speech.
So his 'speech' is okay because you agree with it, but her 'speech' is not okay because you don't agree with it?

I wouldn't. Nevertheless, two wrongs don't make a right. Do they?

Consider the preacher standing on a SOAP BOX!
He has the right to express himself, and you have all the right to tune him out.

The preacher was speaking to no one in particular. He is not in anyone's face.
But that little girl is. She was taunting and being in the face of that man. Big difference here.

Had the little girl been exactly in that preacher's shoes....yes I'll find her okay, even if she talks about atheism.
She'd be just exercising her right to express herself.

So his 'speech' is okay because you agree with it, but her 'speech' is not okay because you don't agree with it?

It's not that I don't agree with her. It's that she's acting like a little asshole. I'd rather deal with someone who is crazy than the little brat.

I am an atheist. Some would even consider me an activist atheist. I think the man in the video was annoying and spewing a bunch of medieval superstitious drivel.

I am also a parent and if one of by boys acted the way the girl in that video did I would be appalled. If she were actually making an argument against the guy or yelling why she felt what he was saying is nonsense that would be different. But she wasn't countering his speech. She was simply trying to silence him by yelling shut up. I am not saying her actions should be illegal by any means, but she certainly shouldn't be commended for that behavior. I will cut her a lot of slack because she is a kid. Her parents should teach her better, however.

I'm not saying she wasn't being rude. I'm saying the guy was being far more rude and obnoxious than she was.

Or do you think it's 'good manners' and okay for anyone to come into a public space and use a microphone to yell at people, including children?

Yep. Reflection on poor upbringing.
To me, the fact that the guy clearly thinks it's okay to come into a public space and use a microphone to yell at people (including children), is a 'reflection on poor upbringing' - or perhaps a mental illness.

Says the poster while she castigates a little girl for exercising her free speech rights

This isn't a free speech issue. This is about two obnoxious people.

ffs, what's life without some loud people on the street ? A public sales pitch is what makes the world go around.

Shirley you cannot be serious. Mental illness? For preaching? Is there truly no end to liberal bullship? And no, the guy was not "yelling". You have obviously never seen yelling preachers.

Is it really any wonder the moral decay we're experiencing, when such a large segment of society condones, and even encourages this kind of behavior from a little girl? Or when someone exercising their constitutional rights is considered "mentally ill"? Good ****ing grief.

This isn't a free speech issue. This is about two obnoxious people.

One of them is a grown adult who should already know that it's rude and obnoxious to yell at people in public.

Hyperbolic bull****. The guy wasn't yelling, and you know it.

And the other was encouraged and filmed by an adult, who should already know that it's rude and obnoxious to yell at people in public.

Street preaching is a controversial practice; these days it is relatively rare in most places, and most churches do not support it anymore. The reasons for that are that most churches have realized it is intrusive and perceived as annoying and pushy; also its effectiveness as an evangelical tool is highly questionable.

As a Christian, I don't support it; I think the annoyance and intrusion factor far exceeds what little positive might come from it. I'd much prefer to see folks just quietly handing out tracts or church invitations with friendly smile, and being polite to those who decline them, as a much more effective and far less irritating public practice.

Also, I'd think that using a megaphone would be prohibited in most areas for most purposes.

Of course he was yelling. And using a microphone to amplify it. How rude and obnoxious can you get?

And telling everyone that they were going to hell if they didn't do what he said they should do.

True. The parent or adult could teach the child to express herself in better way rather just reacting and yelling rudely at an adult who was behaving in a rude obnoxious manner in public.

Who is going to teach the adult guy that it's rude and obnoxious to yell at people in public?

Perhaps next year she'll bring a boom box and calmly stand beside him playing Santa Claus is Coming to Town at full volume? :D

If someone is on a mega phone yelling and screaming in public about anything...they are fair game to be yelled and screamed back at..no matter your age.

Winch?

So you think it's just a reflection on his poor upbringing then?
