Marriage= Sex, child, heritage, slavery, monophobia or ?

What does marriage mean for you and others?
To me it means making a major commitment to stay together for the purpose of raising a family.

Define "raising a family".

Define "raising a family".
To me it means providing the needs of life, both physically and emotionally for children from birth all the way to the day they are ready to support themselves. It's a big commitment.
It is the best way to create stable, functional human beings. So the long view of marriage is a form of "social engineering" that needs to be honoured and protected.

Human beings are social entities like some other living entities; Some animals live in groups in nature for food, protection, breed etc. However, thanks to the intelligence, Human beings do not have to follow that path instinctively.

In today's world the marriage has changed a little bit. Women and men created another option, homosexuality.

However, A state/country needs to meet some basic needs to stay alive, just like animals.

Homosexuality was not created by humans. Homosexuality existed long before humans existed. Marriage was created as a means of security for women. Prior to civilization, men would simply have sex with any woman he could, and become violent sometimes with women who refused. Men became violent with each other and women because the strong urge of men to have sex. This probably created a society of complete violence, one which at some point, may have been in danger of killing itself off. That is when marriage was created. Every man has his own woman and no one else could sleep with that woman but him. As we have evolved morally and socially, marriage has become more of a governmental institution where the state steps in. Which is what is currently destroying marriage and eroding society today.

Uh, what?

Homosexuality has existed for donkey years. In almost every species. And what's more, this whole "isolated two-person unit living apart from everyone else" model that we have is very new -- and there's an argument to be made it's kind of destructive to community.

The species "staying alive" does not require every single person to pump out kids like their lives depend on it. 2 to 5 percent of the population not breeding is not going to hurt anyone. Although it's worth noting some gay people do have kids.

Also, your title is confusing.

So then you don't believe in marriage for couples who do not or can not have children?

Thank you so much.

I think this post of yours simply anyswers many questions in many ''multiple and ironic'' ways, leaving a few out of the frame, but still good one to convince majority of regular people.

My wife and I aren't having kids. How does that pan with your definition of marriage?

Rather fancifull imagination isn't it??

No harm done. Sometimes people get married only to find out later they can't have kids. What they do then, is up to them. Some part their ways, some don't.
Since their decision harms no one else, it should be easy to separate. What's sad is when you see people get together, have kids and then decide they want to divorce.
I'm not the judge, just stating my opinion on why we should have marriage.

You've made up your mind, why should my opinion on marriage matter to you and your wife?
If you need any guidance, I'd be happy to oblige you!

No, I'm good, thanks for the offer though.

lol ok. I was only kidding around.
Sometimes we take these forum debates too seriously!
Have fun with it.
When I got married I never wanted to have kids either. After some years my mind changed and now I got three of them.
So who knows, right?

You do realize that regardless of whether same sex marriage is allowed or not, homosexuality still exists right? Marriage has nothing to do with that.

No, marriage just helps them be miserable too.

The facts are in, and we're not having kids.

Even if adoption were a possibility I saw Badadook on Halloween and that swore me off the idea forever.

Sure it is. You and yours insisted it wouldn't be the next civil/human/perverted right.

Polygamy is very biblical. Are you saying the bible is perverted?

Because it was necessary for assorted survival purposes. Not that way today...it's illegal.

Polygamy wasn't the only thing I was referencing.

Polygamy is still a legal culture in over 150 countries in Africa, Middle East, and most countries in the third world.

It all depends on where you are, of course. It's still biblical, and still practiced in a number of places.

Personally I'm glad I'm not expected to have more than one wife. ;)

BTW: if you think about it, all things are Biblical.

Well there ya go. Probably why it's not legal here.

It was legal here, and practiced until 1898. Even after that, it is being practiced (unofficially) in many states by splinters of the Mormon faith. Some moved to Mexico and some moved to Canada to escape religious persecution.
