True enough.

Interesting somewhat related aside that I stumbled on yesterday while reading about something else: Titan, the hydrocarbon rich moon of Saturn, will be in the moderate temperate range in about 5 Billion years when our sun becomes a red giant. They say this should last for several hundred million years, ending when our sun turns into a white dwarf.

1) Hitler was Catholic
2) Stalin was Russian Orthodox
...

The devil goes to church (when he wants).

Going to church doesn't make anyone a Christian any more than going into a garage makes someone an automobile.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but not thir own facts.
Very true. Thank you for accepting the facts that I have presented.

The devil doesn't exist. But, that's neither here nor there. In the end, you are once again going back to the No True Scotsman fallacy that you love.

If someone says they are Christian, they are Christian. If someone says they are Muslim, they are Muslim. If someone says they are a former Christian, they are a former Christian.

You have no right to determine someone's religious beliefs for them.

So, all that crap about how the bible was written by people being divinely inspired...that's not a "revealed" religion?

Either way, it doesn't matter. Christianity is just like every other mythology in the world, past or present, in that it only serves to keep people in line. All religions and mythologies are, or were, used as tools of power against the weak-willed. Though some do/did that more or less than others, Christianity is one of the worst offenders in history. It is a bloody, violent, horrendous religion that has led to an enormous amount of death, destruction, and misery in history.

To be proud of Christianity, or to put faith in it, is to put faith in its history of genocide and destruction.

That's asinine, Koros - condemning a religion, Christianity, by citing examples of people who violate its principles.

That's like saying gay people are murderers, because some of them have murdered others.

You really need to clean up your vicious, nonsensical rhetoric.

Oh, for crying out loud. Please, for everyone's benefit, please learn to read.

I did NOT say that all Christians are murderers. I said that Christianity has a violent, bloody, murderous past. Are you denying that fact?

Christians, they are so unlike their Christ--Ghandi.

Here's the exact quote:
Jesus is ideal and wonderful, but you Christians - you are not like him.

Horse manure.

You might try reading the New Testament sometime so you can see why you're living in la la land on that.

You have no right to determine someone's religious beliefs for them.

You need someone to help you out with your unbiblical arguments.

That's not what you said. You said,

You condemned the religion.

If Christians gave half the money they give their church to secular enterprises dealing in things like K-12 education, cotraception, abortion, livable wages, affordable daycare, healthcare, domestic abuse prevention, mental health services, and addiction counseling, we'd have no need for homeless shelters. But, instead, most US Christians vote for people who shut those programs down.

The states with the most religion happen to have the most problems. Coincidence? I think not.

I've read it. Remember, I used to be Christian. It's crap.

You need someone to help you out with your unbiblical arguments.
The only people who put stock in the bible are Christians. Since I am no longer a Christian, you may as well quote Car and Driver magazine to me. That, at least, would have something worthwhile to discuss.

That's not what you said. You said,

You condemned the religion.
And am I wrong that Christianity is one of the worst offenders in history? (There are some keywords for you, pal).

Or, do you deny all the various Crusades, Inquisitions, and the like which caused the deaths of a large amount of people? Face it, you can ignore it all you like, but the fact is that Christianity is responsible for some horrendous atrocities in human history. Christians may not, on a large scale, be out killing people in the name of their sky fairy today, but that does not erase their bloody, murderous, violent, and horrendous history.

1) No he wasn't - he was raised catholic but hated christianity and targeted christians to be killed. He decorated his catholic mothers grave with nazi symbols.
2) Probably similar to Hitler
3) No I didn't*

1) Hitler was Catholic
2) Stalin was Russian Orthodox
3) You said that it was demonstrably false that Christianity had a violent, bloody, murderous past. Are you retracting that statement now?

Yes, you did.

Sorry, but you can't back out of this one. You said that my claim that Christianity has a violent, bloody, murderous past was "demosntrably false." You were wrong. You've been schooled, so accept it.

That link doesn't do anything. Try again.

It worked perfectly fine for me. But, in case you have a messed up computer, here you go...

It takes you to post #91 in this thread, which was one of YOUR posts. In that post you stated:

Blah, blah blah.

Another atheist dogma: Religion is evil and religious influence on society is negative. Atheist dogma and worse than dogma, demonstrably false.

You still have a few left.

This was in direct response to a post of mine, in which I said:

So, all that crap about how the bible was written by people being divinely inspired...that's not a "revealed" religion?

You've been schooled. Time to be an adult and admit it.

Certainly parts of the history of christianity has been violent and bloody. Its been around for a while. However, thats not what I said was demonstrably false. Your condemnation of an entire religion with over 2000 years of history over things that happened many years ago and without considering the other side of the scale is pretty bizarre, if not dysfunctional.

So, then, what do you think is "demonstrably false?" You say, now, that you weren't claiming Christianity's violent history is false. So, what IS false?

Oh, and quite frankly, your opinion of whether I am "bizarre" or "dysfunctional" is meaningless to me. You can call me whatever you like, but I see no reason to venerate a religion with centuries upon centuries of blood on their hands.

But, instead, most US Christians vote for people who shut those programs down.

Most US Christians voted for Obama, both times, and for Kerry before that.

Only by pretending that black Christians and Catholics don't count as real Christians can someone make the case that Christians voted against him.

In terms of the universal aspect of an "end time" I believe in something like a big freeze, the universe stops expanding, and then things just are there, in other words, no.

An end of time for Earth in the biblical sense? Lolwutno

It's not even an endearing fantasy. Gloating about the rest of us being left behind to suffer awful torments. Never mind, people are making money out of selling rubbish on rapture sites so it's good for business.

Good point. Evangelicals do not most Christians make.
