Not all things have the same purpose.

The purpose of sex is procreation.
[/QUOTE]The purpose of food is sustenance. As an example.
I am not sure it isn't popcorn, but I believe it is not.
The sex industry is vast. Perhaps them all may not agree with you.
I'm dealing with primary purpose.
I think your position is illustrated here:

The shear intellectual involvement to create and illustrate a meaning! Compare that to this:
Irrelevant of intellectual involvement both of those meanings may equally work well in alleviating existential anxiety for each. Reasons as stated is that there is no inherent universal meaning that does it for all. In plain words, there is no same shoe that fits all. People create their own fuel that runs their boats away from the vortex of existential anxiety.
But, does this not makes you jealous sometime? Some get off so easy, others must invest all they got to create a strong enough, personally believable meaning? . I am too curious to stand at ease on what seems to work great for Grip.
At some point during my adolescence, I swear, I wished I was more stupid so as I would deal with the anxiety with lesser means (no pun intended Grip). Wonder how easy idiots deal with it?

Agreed, not everyone lives for the same reason. But most people do not want to die for a similar reason, fear. If the instinct to survive wasn't so hardwired into our DNA, we would probably all be jumping off cliffs at the first instances of difficulties. It really is pretty simple.
Yes, I was there, at the "hardwired" part of meaning creation. Works quite well for a good while too.
Often people who disrupt this programming are suffering, almost more than they can bear. Their desire is to avoid this pain, more than end their existence. And generally the solution is a permanent one for a temporary problem. Been there myself.
As I said "hardwired" meaning works great. You can link so many things from that position, such as: Evolution, biologic motivation, perception, etc.
We can explain a lot of things thru science, except consciousness.
Is this about the explanatory gap?
I made a simple comment that people don't off themselves in large quantities, because of 'instinct to survive' and fear. Are you really trying counter that with any serious discussion?
