The Onion:Evangelical Scientists Refute Gravity With New 'Intelligent Falling' Theory

Re: The Onion:Evangelical Scientists Refute Gravity With New 'Intelligent Falling' Th

If you knew the truth you wouldn't be a Christ-denier.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Re: The Onion:Evangelical Scientists Refute Gravity With New 'Intelligent Falling' Th

Exactly - yes.

I'm not so sure about that. I have not felt better, slept deeper, or breathed easier since I gave up believing in that bipolar psychopath in the sky, after giving him a healthy dose of my mortal fear for a good ten years.

Now he just hangs out with the boogieman in my closet, and they haven't bothered me in a long time.

If you spent 10yrs in mortal fear because of God, you have a complete misunderstanding of God.

Re: The Onion:Evangelical Scientists Refute Gravity With New 'Intelligent Falling' Th

Rudely inserting "The Onion" completely blew the joke, which any reasoning person would have understood it to be. Saving the ignorant from outrage is not in a moderator's job description, and rightly so.

Re: The Onion:Evangelical Scientists Refute Gravity With New 'Intelligent Falling' Th

A person might view the subject in such hopeless terms when they read garbage like the "Onion" because otherwise there are very sensible and realistic views which align both science and religion together as one.

As in = "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind." ~ Albert Einstein
Einstein believed religion was Silly and would Laugh at your posts about Jesus-whoever and your bizarro Pick-and-choose-NT.
He specifically castigated a personal god.

JP Cusick said:
As like the "Big Bang" is scientific proof of a real creation day, just as "evolution" is just another way of saying that God (a Creator) is still in that process of creating / of evolving.
And as soon s you can show anything like god being involved in evolution..
DO let us know.
Cause right now you post VOODOO Crap.

JP Cusick said:
The "onion" claim about denying gravity is not a real story or report as it is just a lie.
It's a PARODY of 'Intelligent Design' which has No more credibility than 'intelligent falling'.
You Yourself legitimized the OP and it's 'Push' rather than pull concept.. and ergo it's at least One-UP on ID.

Anyone altering the OP Title is at least ill advised and Probably acting with Conflict of Interest because:
1. It's nearly Unprecedented.
2. Most likely it was a conflict of Interest and done it for a co-religionist.
3. Religion and Philosophy USED to be one section.
They were split because the religious did not want to be criticized when making claims or discussing Logically Baseless doctrine.
4. So they split off religion into a 'no criticize the overall concept zone'.
Ergo there should be especially WIDE latitude in the Philosophy section for ridicule as everyone understands IT'S where the rubber meets the road. Pretty much Everything goes.
5. When I see an OP Title, ie, "Obama Sucks", Or "Obamacare has Zero takers", I think to myself, "this is gonna a be a great link, mebbe FOX/WND/Townhall."
I do NOT have a right to See it on the title line.
Virtually NO strings get altered for that reason.

JP CUsick said:

To understand evolution is simply not enough.
Not enough for what?
It's only designed, like other subjects, to Teach that subject, not Family planning, Buddhism, or the best way to live your life, etc.

JP CuSick said:

The schools teach evolution as a false kind of scientific religion where people are degraded into animals and beast of burden.

Every person really needs to de-program the brainwashing that we all received.
What?
Deluded God FREAKS only take issue with one science.. that's because it contradicts their Indoctrinated MYTH.
All other sciences, including ones of overlapping proof, are not contested by the JERKS who know nothing about ANY science except told that this one contradicts their Creationist Myth.

People are NOT "degraded into animals and beast of burden".
They are taught that life/animals share a common ancestry, which is 100% True.

Religionists like to say Evolution or atheism are other religions because they see it in a battle with their BaseLess beliefs.
But its just another Valid science that people like YOU see as a threat to their BaseLess god
.

JP Cusick said:
Many if not most people simply believe what they are told and then call that as thinking which it is not.
We all get told stuff and we all got taught stuff, so we each need to think everything through and make our own decisions based on our own sincere perception of the truth.
Nonsense again.
You believe in the NT, at least sections, such a Gen 1:1.
The resemblance of that particular passage to the Big Bang is coincidence, as the next Dozen Clunker passages will verify.
This is like believing in Vague Prophecies which can inevitably be connected to some event over the next few thousand years.

You think you can pick and choose from from this dart board of mostly false information As If anything it says that is true is something more than Pure Chance.
We see other Beauties come here and do the Same with the Koran/Allah.
No doubt I could do it with ANY Holy Book such as the Bhagavad Gita or any other legend/Myth religion, even though Most Contradict each other in Basic ways.

JP Cusick said:

It must not depend on whoever says what,
or who is more knowledgeable because the final judgement must be our own.
To think has to mean using self generated thought, and as such we must never simply believe what we are told.
And the ONLY way you 'know' about Jesus and his 'divinity' IS what you are told. Period.

If you grew up on a Desert Island you would be capable of discerning certain truths from nature (as Darwin did in the Galapagos).
But you, like other VOODOOists before you, would have to Fabricate your own god/s as Thousands of civilizations/CULTures have done.
Most gods now gone/made obsolescent by the truth.

JP Cusick said:
I agree that the childish kind of creationism of a literal 6 days and 6,000 years is foolish, but the Bible is far more pertinent then are those who claim to represent the Bible.
Believing in Jesus of Immaculate conception, his resurrection, and his divinity is nearly as (perhaps more) Foolish.

JP Cusick said:

YES - at least all of the important stuff - yes, go out and verify everything.

I do believe that is what is meant by maturity.
Verify god.
Please tell us all WHICH/WITCH one you're going to attempt to do it, as Most people believe in a different one than you, and most people are Necessarily wrong, even if one scripture coincidentally got One thing write.

More on your Preposterous positions to follow, including Possible Aliens as Adam-and-Eve etc And "Chariots across the Sky" as the ships that brought them.
Oh my. If there's One piece of magic/fantasy, there's always more to fill the need.

If you spent 10yrs in mortal fear because of God, you have a complete misunderstanding of God.

That's funny, because the book that talks about him sing tales of genocide, commanding pregnant women be torn open and their fetuses dashed to pieces, and stealing the souls of first born children in the middle of the night.

Oh, but then he suddenly becomes Mr. Niceguy, wishing peace on earth and trying to be everyone's friend. Then Revelations promise of the future rears its ugly head. A reality in which such a flip flopping bloodthirsty/kindly deity stands at the head of all creation can only be described as a chaotic nightmare. Who's to say somewhere down the line he doesn't just turn right around and tell everyone to go screw themselves, believer or otherwise? He's seems the kind of guy who might save you from drowning one day, and sick a sloth of bears after you the next.

Like I said you have a complete misunderstanding of God. Also your claim of being a former Christian shows me you dont understand scriptures. If you were a "real" christian you would not have left the fold. You left because your faith wasn't genuine to begin with. Don't believe me?? Read what Jesus has to say about the mustard seed. Will you ever comeback to the fold? Maybe, but if you dont you never were. Now get your hate on for me because this seems to be the atheist way.

Exactly! If Jayhawker or any of the others who professed to have previously been "Christians" had ever been born again they would have known it was for real.

There's not a one of them who has ever had an encounter with the Holy Spirit.

I'm still waiting for you to share the details of this encounter. I'm curious.

That's the part that is hard to explain! When it happens it really is like the scales have been removed from your eyes, and its undeniable. You can hear the gospel your whole life, but you can't see the gospel until you're regenerated( born again ).

Re: The Onion:Evangelical Scientists Refute Gravity With New 'Intelligent Falling' Th

I do not believe anyone made a mistake or misunderstanding in this one, as it was obviously religious bigotry by the source link and by the OP.

As such a winking smilie or display of humor would NOT have improved any part thereof.

For me - I simply do not like to be put on the defensive because of blatant bigotry, so trying to turn the subject around to a "real thing" is taking the offensive - IMO - and I prefer the offensive instead of falling under the bigots by being defensive or apologetic.

To counter such nasty things by inserting some "real things" is what I understand to be the higher road.

Actually it's ridicule, rather than bigotry. And if there's anything ripe for ridicule, it's this fundamentalist creationism bull****.

I think your god should have explained himself then. He knew for ten years how I felt about the stories, how they shaped his image to me. He knew would it would have taken to set the record straight, but for all that time all I got was the deafening silence of uncertainty, mixed with the feelings of imminent doom once he just had another bad day.

All I got is the words of the book, and the book describes a psycho with too much power in his hands. I don't know how I could genuinely worship such a thing, even if I actually still believed it to be real.

Re: The Onion:Evangelical Scientists Refute Gravity With New 'Intelligent Falling' Th

There's not a one of them who has ever had an encounter with the Holy Spirit.

So being touched by your friend is what makes a man a "true" Scotsman. Well god had a good long time to feel me up when I genuinely believed in him and feared his deeds. Like I said, I got nothing.

The god that gave rise to subjectivity is to blame when his creations believe different things. The flaw of the pot is every bit the fault of the potter.

This is complete and utter bull****. Anyone who loses their faith was never a christian to begin with? What kind of a pretentious asshole does someone have to be to make that general of a statement about all mankind? I grew up in an extremely christian household, and up until I was about 22 I was an extremely religious, born again christian. For you to come in and tell us that we're liars is a dick move by any definition.

I gave up my faith because there is overwhelming evidence that it is false, and I refuse to continue to lie to myself to be "true to the cause". What you've essentially just told me is that your faith is so strong that absolutely no evidence or events could ever happen to make you question your beliefs, which is the epitome of willfull ignorance.

I doubt you'll sleep well in the hereafter.

And I doubt you'll sleep well in the hells of the multitude of religions you don't believe in. Scared?

Sorry but the truth does hurt sometimes. If you were truly born again you would still be a Christian. Maybe you should reread the Scriptures because it explains your position. If you feel the need to call me a "dick" for telling you what it says. . So be it
And one more thing, I never called anyone a liar I said he was mistaken. Good luck with your anger issues.

So it is exactly as I said. There is no amount of evidence or facts that could ever get you to change your mind. I am open minded and adjust my world view based on the facts and evidence at hand. If tomorrow evidence were presented that the world was in fact created 6,000 years ago and people lived with dinosaurs, I would adjust my world view accordingly.

You on the other hand would stick your fingers in your ears and continue believing what you want to believe. Talk about ignorance.

I agree with that - but Einstein did that as his affront to the silly nonsense of the world religions - and rightfully so.

Einstein knew about a real God and not some personal God, and Einstein did not want to start up his own version of a religion.

His words are still accurate whether he tried to deny then or not.

A more improved and accurate wording of one quote would be like this = Science without God is lame, and knowing God without science is blind.

It does not matter what Einstein believed or what anyone believes, as the truth is true and the reality is real and that is what we seek.

And as soon s you can show anything like god being involved in evolution.
DO let us know.
The reality that evolutions is a never-ending activity which grows and improves and evolves then that in-itself is a proof of an intelligent design and an active Creator.

Claiming that evolution somehow excludes God is the absurd claim.

Me whipping past your post #23 = HERE was the best thing that I could do with it.

You were just rambling with irrelevant nonsense and your emotional denials which deserved nothing better then to ignore.

You even claimed that I was giving evidence of Christ resurrection which I would never do, because I say Jesus was resuscitated which in those old days just looked like a resurrection.

Your post #23 is nothing but dribble, and I really would not criticize it as I am here except that you have the pretentious audacity to bring it back up.

To ridicule is a significant part of bigotry, as they both go together as like close synonyms.

It is when bigotry is used as a verb where in real life the bigotry is put into action then there is always doses of ridicule included.

As I explained in my posting #7 here =
