religious arguments don't persuade?

...the truths of God and the scriptures are spiritually discerned, and the carnal mind cannot comprehend them. I'm pretty sure that's why you fail to appreciate the truth.

Until you recognize the truth of Christ then you're the one being conned by the devil.

You're going to have explain your logic here. If the carnal mind cannot recognize the truth of Christ, then how is Tim supposed to do that? And why would the devil need to con anyone if they can't understand it without spiritual intervention?

By the Holy Spirit, who can enable an individual to believe.

And why would the devil need to con anyone if they can't understand it without spiritual intervention?

Here's a fairly good article on how the devil does that.

Satan: How Does He Operate?

Sorry, but the moral laws of God have never passed away and are still in effect today. Adultery is still adultery, murder still murder, thievery still thievery, gay sex still a sin, etc., etc. And I'm sure countless Christians still look to the Bible for their moral compass.

On the other hand secular moral relativism is hardly enduring. It changes over cultures and times like people change their socks. Prohibition is a good example. So I'll stick with the Bible.

and shell fish pock and wearing clothes of more then 1 kind of fiber still no no to god praise jesus

Just ignored slavery and the sabbath thing (which is actually a commandment) I see. Keep on picking and choosing.

Do people have to explain everything to you? Read the New Testament and you won't have to be in the dark about those.

Since I am not beholden to either God or the Devil or indeed the Great Tooth Fairy you must see that is wrong.

How do you know that you have backed the right side and not been coned by such an evil god?

And on what basis does the Holy Spirit choose which people to enable to believe? You're kind of making the Bible pointless here...if it can't be understood without divine intervention, then why need it at all? If one receives the necessary information from the Holy Spirit, then one wouldn't need tihe Bible.

Here's a fairly good article on how the devil does that.
I didn't ask "how," I asked "why?" If someone is already a "child of Satan" as your link claims, then the devil doesn't have to do anything at all. The only danger would be if the Holy Spirit chose to enable a person to believe, and I'm fairly sure you wouldn't say the devil could stop that.

Only God knows the answer to your first question. As for your second point, the Holy Spirit often speaks through the Bible and gives the born again a hunger for it.

I've heard a number of sermons, including one by Charles Stanley, that the more people harden their hearts against Christ and the Word of God, the more they become pawns of Satan, and the harder it is for them to eventually become believers.

I just read your posts to understand I'm in the right place.

People WROTE the new testament. People...people who have vivid imaginations, who had the talent to create realistic fiction...and very convincingly ...wrote the bible.

People who were under divine inspiration.

What the religious refer to as "divine" scientists call astonishing. The difference is scientists deal in realities and the religious deal in faith. A scientist will view the magnificence of the solar system through telescopes while the religious sit in a building and talk about the Earth and heavens. "Eternity" is a pipe dream to those of faith while to the world of science it is nonexistent because we know the universe will someday no longer exist.
