Does this New Religion have merit?

I didn't say deeply, I said "sincerely". The whole FSM is a mocking of true religion which is all well and good, just don't try to sell it like it's legit.

You think the other religions are legit????????

Really?????

Have you read any history?

Well, it's not really like they had to be so gentle as to come up with a joke like the FSM. They could have actually educated you by giving a lesson about the Cargo Cults of the South Pacific, where the delusion of myth making is so thoroughly on display. They don't really need the FSM to demonstrate the things that it demonstrates, because they have living examples that demonstrate those things far better and with greater force.

Humankind is a culture myth makers, so it is wrong for them to call you mentally ill at least.

I get it. You all hate every thing and everyone religious. Why does that make peddling lies necessary?

Eh??

The FSM is a humorous take on religion where the doctrine is about having a sense of humor. It is illustrative of the equally ridiculous lying inherent in all religions. It lies no more than all the others.

To say that folks truly and sincerely believe in the FSM is an obvious lie. "Pastawhateverians" are simply religious Poes.

It's very disrespectful to act as though someone's sincerely held religious beliefs are fake just because you don't agree. I will eat an extra meatball tonight so that you may be touched by his noodly appendage and see the light. For the FSM is kind but righteous.

RAmen.

People truly and sincerely believe that the FSM is as credible as any other god and want to have the same status in civil society as the presently privileged professors of belief in those other fictional entities. It's is a very sincere piece of educational piss taking.

What's good for the fraudulent, such as the Pope, should be as assessable to those with integrity.

Are you telling me that you genuinely believe that the FSM is real? And why does it have to be spaghetti? I love pasta. Couldn't it be the Flying Broccoli Monster?

Your dancing around is noted. Tell me it centers around a true belief in the existence of the FSM, or be honest and admit that it doesn't.

Broccoli is not aerodynamically sound, x.

FSM has as much chance of being real as GOD.

You skip straight over the point and go directly for the "I am being hated on" card. I get it. It is easier.

It amazesme that anybody couldpossibly fail to understand that this thread, along with the entire "flying spagetti monster" shtik is just the mocking of religious views, and not any sort of actual religion.

It looks like the ultra-religious targets of the mnockery are not the only ones with simple-minded outlooks towards the world.

You just have to think about it critically. Think about all of the people who's lives have been made better through pastafarianism.

Everyone knows that there is no flying broccoli monster. Thats what pagans used to believe in.

There's some percentage, how ever small, of people that have seen Stephen Colbert and thought he was really a conservative.

Our pasta, who art in a colander, draining be your noodles. Thy noodle come, Thy sauce be yum, on top some grated Parmesan. Give us this day our garlic bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trample on our lawns. And lead us not into vegetarianism, but deliver us some pizza, for thine is the meatball, the noodle, and the sauce, forever and ever.

Sometimes you need poes to whack people over the head with a religion to make them realize how ****ed up their thinking is.
Pastafarianism was 'created' to demonstrate to a Kansas school board the concept of opening Pandora's box.
Intelligent people had tried reason and logic to show them that intelligent design is NOT science and thus does not belong in the science class room but it took a made up religion and its version of intelligent design to open their eyes.

' Oh crap. I wanted them to teach MY version of creation not someone else's.......'

This is why I don't worry one iota about Hobby Lobby's case or other religious nonsense being introduced into law. The Constitution has a wonderful self correcting mechanism w.r.t. religion called the 1st amendment.
Which means if you open one religious door, you open them all.

Now the only way to get what the religious people want would be to repeal the 1st and if that happens: to paraphrase Dorothy: 'we ain't in America no more'. We would be in christianistan where the tealiban rule.
When you get right down to it, there is very little difference in ancient religious laws regarding women, sexuality, apostasy, heresy, blasphemy.

You do know that the Flying Spaghetti Monster is satire, right? There aren't actually any Pastafarians. It was created as a critique of creationism, because there's just as much legitimacy to the "the western god created everything" idea as there is to the "the Flying Spaghetti Monster created everything" idea.

Yes - it's all a joke.
Anytime someone says they belong to the church of the FSM they're just joking.

LOL

It's been funny to see people think it's real over the years - that's how legends are created.

Which brings up the point of it.....who is to say that 2000 yrs. ago someone didn't do much the same thing for the Floating Yahweh Critter.

Tell me that Christianity and Hinduism center around true belief or be honest and admit it doesn't.

I mean whatever your type, one of them has to be talking porky pies.

Your saying it's been done before??

But surely nobody would actually believe such sillyness. I mean they will be believing in zombies next!

Legends - you know, like Paul Bunyan. He's entirely fictional but some people think he was real.
