Pick Four Persons To Replace Those On Mount Rushmore

James K. Polk, Neil Armstrong, Bill Gates, John Brown.

I sort of get John Brown, but I cannot bring myself to accept Polk. Although achieving the United States' present-day boundaries was a good thing, and even though Santa Anna deserved it, the Mexican War was little more than a war of conquest that ultimately extended the power of the slave aristocracy.

That he recognized with greater clarity than perhaps anyone else the abomination of slavery, the steps that were required to begin its abolition, and that he had the courage to see his deeds through to the end. His willingness to hear a moral call and serve a higher law is laudable and something for which so many others in different times and places have received histories highest acclaim. I do not think Brown is different in that regard. I also believe his actions in some small measure redeemed our national guilt. Finally as a Jew and descendant of holocaust survivor I have enormous respect for those who are willing to take moral action regardless of the letter of the law or the consequences to themselves. Is every cause always justified? No. But that's why we get to pick which ones we honor. The revolutionary impulse however is still worth enshrining and I think John Brown is an exemplar that has been unfairly maligned.

Well thought out, though, I'll give you that. We'll agree to disagree.

Nugent, Beck, Coulter, and Limbaugh.

Choose four Americans you believe would be good figures for Mount Rushmore. They can be any body from any discipline, doctors, teachers, etc.

Washington, Because he deserved to be there in the first place,
Lincoln, Because he led the Union to victory so that the U.S.A would be twice as strong later when world war II would come along.
Benjamin Franklin, Because 1) his use of control over many of the presses helped gain support for the revolution, 2) he was a genius inventor and a scientist, 3) his wealth (from owning a lot of the presses) greatly helped fund the revolution.
And Lastly, just for giggles, Violent J of the Insane Clown Posse. Just to destroy the continuity. Oh, and his face would be frozen in a terrified scream.

The Skipper, Gilligan, Thirston Howell the 3rd, and the professor.

I believe that the Professor, bless his heart, truly had the well being of everyone on the island in mind at all times. And I think the Skipper, come hell or high water, backed the Professor one hundred percent. Gilligan, though inept a great majority of the time, was an honest soul who wouldn't dream of taking advantage of the others; not even for all the coconut-cream pies Mary Ann and Ginger could make in a year (Mrs. Howell couldn't be bothered to help with the pies; money will do that to a person). And Thirston Howell the 3rd, while failing to contribute in any meaningful way, must nevertheless be given credit for not using his money to corrupt the others.

Mount Rushmore was literally built to be a tourist trap. An incredibly boring one.

Mount Rushmore is a crime against political correctness and should be destroyed. They are all straight white men. Intolerable!

Absolutely not.
