The search for the meaning of life.....

OK - I will talk to my pastor. However, I'm really going to be honest with him and not pf around - and I don't see how he can help, but I promise I'll talk to him.

Follow your own instincts. You appear to be a really decent, kind, good-hearted man. You already have what it takes.

There is no objective meaning to life. We are apes on a hurtling ball of rock cursed with sentience--just try and be happy. =)

Trying to be happy IS meaning. I'd say it's about as objective as it gets, when it comes to emotional satisfaction.

He said he was going to talk with his pastor. I think that's a great idea. I'll be glad to talk to him also if he ever wants.

That's a good idea.

I used to talk with the president and founder of a Christian University so often, with so many questions, he'd wince when he saw me coming. But he was always kind to me and took the time to listen to me and answer all my questions.

If you ever have a question that stumps your pastor then give me a shot at it. I have a masters in Biblical Theology and though I don't have all the answers (nobody this side of heaven does) I have a lot of things I've studied in depth. My masters was on Christ in the Old Testament. And one of the many books I've read recently on that is this one, written by one of the foremost Messianic scholars in the world. It's part of a 5 book set.

Christianbook.com: Answering Jewish Objections to Jesus, Volume 3: Objections to Messianic Prophecy: Michael L. Brown: 9780801064234

Many of the objections Dr. Brown answers are similar to what skeptics and atheists come up with. It's very informative.

Good luck!

I think that this philosophy is a more belligerent philosophy already pioneered by Taoism and Buddhism in a much more healthy way. I would agree that searching for the meaning of life is futile, but searching for inner peace and stability is divine.
We're already divine. Whatever manner of path to enlightenment, it's only searching for the knack of looking from the outside in. That is to say, striving to be all you can be is the surest way to guarantee you'll never be satisfied.
