Do you believe in it? I think it can be possible - I mean why not, anything is really.

This morning I just got a little freaked out when my five year old started saying some stuff that was a little out there. She has never done or said anything like this before but this morning as we were getting ready to leave she suddenly said to me "I remember before I was born to you" I was alittle rushed this morning and it caught me off guard so I asked her what and she said "I was in heaven but before that I got all scratched up and died. I had cuts on my face" That stopped me and I said what happened. She looked alittle confused and said again she got scratched on her face. Then she said she remembered her eyes turning to brown and I asked her what color were they and she took her finger and kinda swept over them and said that she doesn't know only that they turned to black then brown in heaven. So I was kinda freaked then and asked her where she heard this stuff because I figured maybe she heard something or someone talk about something but she says she didn't hear it, that it happened to her before she was a baby with me. At that point we really had to get going so I couldn't talk to her more about it but it made me wonder and think, could she be saying the truth? I'd like to think she heard it somewhere or imagining things but isn't there a chance of reincarnation being possible?

I guess it's as good a possibility as any other afterlife theories. Honestly though, I'm not sure what I believe anymore.

Yeah, me too. I've always kept a open mind about reincarnation because some stories are pretty intriguing and somewhat believable. But then I think why is it that it's only a few who seem to remember these past lives? If it is possible wouldn't much more people experience it and remember it or is the rebirth such an experience that most just forget?

My guess is it was part of some dream she had. I can remember several dreams from that age range today that were just as real to me as any of the memories from that age.

I've always wondered about de ja vu in relation to reincarnation; have I been here before? But then I heard another more rational explanation.

It's also this circuit, the scientists are convinced, that explains déjà vu. Every so often, they believe, the pattern-separation circuit misfires, and a new experience that's merely similar to an older one seems identical. "It doesn't happen very often to most people," Tonegawa says. Intriguingly, some people with epilepsy have this experience all the time. "Epileptic seizures involve random firing of neurons in the temporal lobes, which include the hippocampus," he says, and that could scramble the circuit.

Obviously a dream.

I think it is a stong possibility, and would make sense of some otherwise nonsensical things.
Your daughter may not be just imagining things. :)

One problem with reincarnation is simple arithmetic. About half the people who ever lived are alive today. There are not enough souls in the pipeline.:peace

That could be it, I know I have really intense dreams pretty much every night and sometimes I get confused when I remember certain events/dreams. It's kind of a weird feeling remembering something clearly and seeming so real then remembering it was just a dream.

My problem with reincarnation is everybody who claims to have been reincarnated was a member of royalty or someone famous. No one has claimed to have been a **** hole scrubber or stable boy.

According to Hinduism, bad people come back as animals.

No, that really isn't true at all. It's just that you don't hear about the cases which are not exciting, as a rule.

Not at all. During the Middle ages people died young. Now the expectancy of life is something like 80 years.

According to Hinduism, bad people come back as animals.

Or gypsies, which is piratically the same.

Do good animals come back as humans? The problem is not what to do with surplus human souls, quite the opposite. The problem is where to find enough human souls.:peace

I don't believe life expectancy matters in this context.:peace

I don't believe that the number of "souls" is finite, any more than the number of blades of grass is finite. Creation is an infinite process of change, growth, and rebirth, and much like physical reality, evolves according to conditions.

Well, not that I really believe in reincarnation, but to play devil's advocate, what if not ALL souls are reincarnated?

Good point. It seems I need some breakfast.

Fair enough. But then most souls in the present are new, not reincarnated.:peace

True, people living today represent about 6% of people who ever lived. But definitely needed a **** load of new souls during the last century for reincarnation to work.

Personally I don't care either way about reincarnation, it's much the same as material death if I can't remember the previous life.

I believe reincarnation is a very real possibility.

Too many instances of people knowing great detail of previous events, places and other people. Children, not having their minds cluttered with the things we adults do, I would think would let them recall the detail better then adults.

That's the obvious answer. But then the belief system has to account for a mix of new and old.:peace

Maybe only people with unfinished business are reincarnated?
