"The Big Bang" a term for all creation that somehow serves to divide science and religion. It being 2014 and the world of science being the governor of answers vs. old wives tales and storybook fables why not look at what is close to what really happened as far as science now believes. You want to talk miracle, how about from the moment of the bang the universe expanded from a tiny thing to the size of a baseball in a millionth of a millionth of a millionth of a millionth of a second. That is equal to something the size of a baseball expanding to the size of our earth in the same amount of time! Try to do that at home. Oh, and that is faster than the speed of light. It was simply energy expanding with temperatures in the billions of degrees. So now others with additional information about the start of existence can chime in with more impressive numbers and when they are done why not compare them to the miracles in the Bible and you will agree the Bible story is dwarfed by the scientific world in terms of miracles. Maybe we should start giving God the credit God is due.

Atheists worship science as their 'god', saying it answers all the questions in life.

It does not.

No we do not, and no we do not.

It does not.

It doesn't pretend to answer all the questions in life, if anything it is the reverse... By not starting from a point of revelation and absolute certain belief it allows us to learn about the nature of life and the cosmos, both inner and outer. it is merely a tool to help people and society. Like any tool it can be misused and abused, but any scientific individual worth their salt would never pretend to have all the answers, merely the likely answers based on the available evidence and study.

In response to the Thread title.
No

I don't "worship" science. I rely upon the scientific method because it's testable and provable and has countless medicines, technologies and findings under it's belt to show it's value. I'm not diminishing your God here when I say this, but if you are in true desperate need, as in a medical emergency, would you rather walk to your nearest church or have a helicopter give you a lift to the nearest hospital full of the latest medicines and technologies provided to you by science? That doesn't mean you worship science, that just means that when push comes to shove, you know that deep down those medicines and technologies that have been thought up, created, tested, and re-tested with the scientific method are more useful than praying for a miracle.

And no, I've never heard anyone say science answers all questions in life, but it does offer infinitely better answers to the questions it does answer.

My point starting this thread is the works of God as we are taught are here say compounded by rumor and nothing more in the form of highly questionable scribbling's. To "worship" God for the fables in the bible is an insult to what is actually created. Idiots only believe the world was created in six days and fools deny the existence of dinosaurs. Do you have pictures of Adam and Eve? I have pictures of the universe! Why not put down your comic book and appreciate God for what IS instead of what someone wrote and re-interpreted 100 times 2000 plus years ago. The gospels are a contradictory collection of unproven myths. Do you love you parents and children for what someone has SAID they are or for what you KNOW them to be? Trash Christianity with all it's history of human slaughter and deceit and turn to what is your world around you. I can prove what God did you can prove nothing with your little black book. Nothing!!

WHOA!!! Wait one minute! "it does not pretend to answer all the questions in life"? That is exactly what it is used for by every single preachers standing before the crowd. It claims to be "The Answer". If you get killed in a fire it is the will of god, if you survive it is by the grace of god. Give me a break.

I think you may have your wires crossed my friend as your post makes no sense in relation to my post which you quoted.....

It doesn't answer all the questions. But, it's probably the best avenue we have available to answer many of them.

Easy to do, especially when you read the threads from bottom up.

Not true.
It may as hard for you to grasp as the scientific process for reasoning...
But I "worship" nothing.

That is my understanding of the definition of science.

I love science but, as far as morality, spirituality and faith are concerned, it knows nothing. Nor will it pass those on to future generations.

I know right, I tried making burnt offerings to the Large Hadron Collider using a Bunsen Burner, and the bastard wouldn't answer.

Hmm, funny. When atheists love science you mock them by claiming they "worship" science, yet you yourself admit you love science. Crazy right?

Btw, science makes no claims on morality or spirituality. So saying it "knows nothing", isn't really any kind of meaningful criticism of science. It's like condemning a plane because it doesn't fit on the highway. That criticism completely misunderstands the purpose of the plane.

I would argue against the idea that religion "knows" morality or really has anything meaningful to say on the matter, but I'm not sure if that's even allowed in the religion forum.

LOL! That's a bitch.

Those who rely on science do so by relying on someone else's opinion. Faith is a personal connection.

Yes but, I don't expect for you to agree with me on anything. That's faith.

My faith comes with citations though. The Bible doesn't have a bibliography.

"And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep." is contradicted by the Big Bang Theory how exactly?

By the way, slick one the way you have gotten away with putting another religion bashing thread into the religion forum when it should be in the philosophy section. Just can't stand boundaries can you?

Nor does science, at this level. The Big Bang is one of many creation myths- not a bad one, mind, but I kinda prefer others that have stories that predate the moment of creation. What was happening a minute before the Big Bang? Like that.
