Multiple reasons.
Money being huge.
Getting married to wrong person to begin with.
Lack of sex.
Control.
Sex.
I doubt the number of kids is very high on the list.
Humans want to have sex all the time. Our sex drive might be instinctual.
Not sure actually having kids is the reason why most of us have sex the vast majority of the time.
Is that why you have sex? So you can have another kid?
Oh wow
Money plays a part in most divorces however, I would argue.that it isn't the money in and of itself, it's the control if said money. Power struggles.
What I was driving at, was what you said about being monogamous. A lot of marriages fail because of infidelity. If I were a betting woman, I would bet that on this very forum there are a ton of people previously married (with children) who were cheated on by their spouse.
I adopted one child (my oldest) because of fertility issues. I had my daughter 16 months later.
BTW, I do not have sex just to have children. I'm not sure where that came from, but when you bring up being monogamy when another brought up looking for suitable genes to procreate, I felt compelled to point out that there is a reason for LACK of monogamy amongst people of children bearing age.
IS it because of some other drive to procreate?
You tell me.
