I apologies right now for spelling errors . I grew up in a place where I was not force in to a religion or to be a atheist . I did read the bible time to time since why not the stories were pretty cool and history text books . I do believe in god just not any of the current versions of god since they are all mostly terrible and they are all corrupt in one way or another and during many of the philosophical discussions I had joined in people had expressed variations of certain religions but not exactly the same . Who has made there own version of god . ( yes it can be yourself but people may call you a narcissi ) I found believing in a god is a lot more easy than being a atheist but than again i'm not everyone .

I wouldn't exactly say that I have formed my own version of God, but have expanded my concept of what it is. When I was a child, God was highly humanized in my mind, and judgemental, while being loving- sort of like a parent. I devoted many years to a religious quest of sorts, and spent some time essentially agnostic/ borderlining on atheistic, but life events and things which have happened to me in the course of greater than 50 years, brought me back to a more "religious" existence, in which I see God as an indescribable creative energy (for lack of a better term), of which we are all but little expressions. It's something which I can't really explain, because it's not really a belief, but a way of living and perceiving. I hope that makes at least a little sense. :)

When you say way of living do you mean moral code or worldview or what?

Yes and yes. My own moral code and my own worldview. My moral code has pretty much gotten smaller (iow, my personal standards of behavior have become more strict, if you will), and my worldview has expanded to be much more tolerant of differences.

If not the bible where do you get answers or directions to many of life's questions, or in other words the building blocks to your worldview?

The resources available to literate human beings are practically unlimited..................

From several religous sources, books of philosophy, poetry, music, and the study of psychology itself.

Sure...each one has a philosophy. They all can't be true.

It's a collaboration of values collected, which make up a personal worldview / moral code. Nothing has to be 'true' or 'not true.' It's what matters most to you personally. If you like a certain teaching from Buddhism, you incorporate it. If you like a certain teaching from Christianity, you incorporate it. If you like the views of a certain philosopher, the writings of a certain author or poet, you incorporate them. None of them are 'true' to begin with. They all have a uniqueness to them. People understand that the thousands of years of human progress in worldview / moral code can be used as a sum of parts to form one cohesive perspective.

in fact many people'S gods differ from each other whether they believe in the same religion or not .

many believers may not be as kind as an atheist who doesnt have such belief .

l was reading this article written about virtue ethics

Virtue Ethics: Morality and Character - What Are Virtue Ethics?

l believe our gods usually exist in our hearts.

we form this god according to our own values ,our instincts and perception of life .

sometimes those gods turn into a monster , that survive by feeding our ego

maybe we are our own gods

What do you consider concrete truth then?

I generally try to avoid truths, since a truth effectively puts a period at the end of a thought or idea.

I agree in principle, but without some truths by which I live, I think I would find myself more aimless than would be desirable.

But do you actually see those as "universal" truths, meaning they should apply to everyone? Or do you only use them to guide your own opinions and actions?

My guess is the latter, which is as it should be. ;)

Yes. My own. Now that I know the ratios for mixing concrete, I'm good. ;)

I think a lot of us created our own god. Like you, I too rejected the conventional God, seeing him as judgmental and his fickle nature a bit annoying. After all, who but a petulant child would create a universe and then destroy some of it in a flood because he wasn't happy with how the ants in his colony behaved? So...when given a choice between this crazy version of god or living with no god, I went a different route.

I think the term for destroying a race of people since because they aren't happy with it is called genocide

In terms of morality and worldview?

Yes. How do you navigate the world in which we live in? What truth or facts do you base your life decisions and self conduct? Why would they be only true to you and no one else?

Lol.....is that a universal ratio or does it just work for you?
It's not universal because of the various applications but it works for a lot of people. I wouldn't want to build a bridge with it, but it's fine for a sidewalk, parking pad, or most anything the Average Joe would pour. :)
