For atheists: Which are your favourite gods?

my favorite god is the one who doesnt create any moron

Om. The God in "Small Gods", one of Terry Pratchett's Discworld series.

" ...The basic theme is a simple, but rarely recognized, truth. Gods are created by people. The fewer the believers, the smaller and weaker the god. When belief fades or believers eliminated, the gods cease to exist. Once mighty, the god Om has been relegated to the body of a tortoise. He retains but one true believer: Brutha, a novice in the Citadel of Om. Brutha makes frequent reference to segments of the "holy book" Om supposedly authored. Mystified by attribution to himself of these writings, Om wonders who really wrote them. And why they were written. What has been perpetrated in His Name? ... "

Let me preface this by saying this by saying I understand your annoyance. Amadeus does seem to go out of his way (not necessarily with this thread, in my opinion) to try to offend religious people. I understand where he's coming from, but I think he goes too far sometimes. That said, if your god didn't make morons then are there multiple gods (something must have created the morons?)?

Why would this conversation be restricted to atheists?

a quran verse taht describes the situation

"And they swear by Allah their strongest oaths that if a sign came to them, they would surely believe in it. Say, “The signs are only with Allah .” And what will make you perceive that even if a sign came, they would not believe." Al An'am 109

I find it amusing that any religious person could -- in any way, shape, or form -- be offended by this thread. And yet.

My fave mythologies have always been the Egyptian, Roman and Greek ones. I don't have any favorite gods, though. I like polytheism for some reason. I find it a lot less dangerous than monotheism.

The funniest one to me is that scapegoat god. The one they supposedly nailed to a cross to die for billions of crimes against fellow men yet to be committed. What an absurd morally lazy notion that you are not responsible for the bad things you do, and will do, because some Heb was tortured and killed 2000 years ago.
How morally lazy.
How ridiculously hard to swallow.
Yet so popular.
Yeah do any kind of crime against humanity you want and all is well because the scapegoat god took all the heat magically two millennia ago and you are exonerated from any wrong doing.
For pure absurdity ... that one can't be beat.

Lord Tammerlain's posts usually make me laugh and he seems like a pretty funny guy. So, Lord Tammerlain. Plus, that KOTH avatar is great.

One time I read about a god that, when you die gives you a pig and as many coconuts as you can carry. I'd have to choose that one.

nobody has to be very religious to think this is a childish thing

Favorite god? guess....

1 coveted "like" to add to the tally of whomever gets it.

My god is of this earth
Your god remains unseen
Of yours you await rebirth
My god is here right now
My god is green!

As you drift throughout your dying days
I merely set my god ablaze

You can sell your belief
I can buy my relief
Your god is overpriced
With mine there's no sacrifice

My god is green!

I think they do have to be religious to take offence, and I was sincere in my opening question. I study mythology as a hobby and I was interested to see if there were like-minded individuals.

I cannot control what others think. Although in retrospect, I should have posted it on another forum.

I disagree. If you wanted a true religious discussion, it belongs in the Religious Forum. I don't have a problem with it in the Philosophy Forum but it was a true religious inquiry. Unless, of course, the Religious Forum is really the "Abrahamic Religions Only Forum," now?

If there's a heaven, I hope he designed it.
