Lack of ideals?

I don't know. There is a strong tendency for people to think they stand for a certain ideal, but when you explore their thoughts you find they don't really stand for it at all.

With the inclusion of religion... I think you have nailed the intent of the author Spanky.
Is there anyone on the right who doesn't list taxation, as the prime thorn in the side?

So this entire thread is about taxation?

Taxation is a good place to look when you explore the topic looking for inconsistencies in the ideals of people. There is a strong tendency for people to throw out the excuse that the government is different and therefore is an exception to the rule. This tendency shows a clear lack of understanding of the ideal to begin with and why they don't really stand for it at all.

That assumes that the government meets people's expectations. There are things I would support the government doing if I thought the government did it well. Since I have little faith in Washington, I tend not to see them as the answer for much of anything.

Do you mean... Like having millions stashed away in offshore tax haven accounts?

Not the point. If you believe its wrong for someone to take the property of someone without their permission and consent and then argue its fine if the government does this because they need funding then you are being inconsistent and showing evidence that you don't actually believe in it at all.

Not wishing your funds to go towards certain ends is another matter entirely that deals with personal desires of how you want your tax money to be spent. You could argue however that if the funds are going towards certain individuals that is inconsistent with how taxes where meant to function.

Not exactly but taxation is a part of it. I think it's well known that taxation easily turns into theft if some ideals are not met. :)
