Do you think a Real Hunger Games would be accepted and seen as entertainment by our society or in the future? For those of you who do not know what Hunger Games is: it's a popular book trilogy and now a set of movies, read about it here. The basic premise is that every year 24 teens, 1 boy and 1 girl is selected form 12 districts fight to the death for the amusement of the Capitol.

Would this ever be accepted by society as entertainment if it was real?

God no. Thats what movies are for.

It's an idiotic concept as it is, the books and the movie were crap. But hey, considering how stupid people are to watch reality TV, I guess you can never say never.

I suppose it's possible. Societies have done awfully cruel things to human beings so in the event of a societal breakdown where the "rulers" are totalitarian psychopaths - sure, it could happen. I would honestly say that child soldiers are a variation of the Hunger Games - you're sending a bunch of kids into the "wild" to survive and kill people. I'm sure there are also places where children are pitted against each other in similar ways to the Hunger Games already by psychos.

I found them actually pretty good just throw out the goddamn love triangle.

I hope to God not, but they had people killing each other, for entertainment, in Rome, and we seem to have much in common with the old days of Rome. When a society gets to a certain point of decadence acceptance, pretty much anything goes.

Great books, movie was too truncated. I think it's a great idea and should be instituted as soon as possible. The only differences I propose is that the entrants must be 18 and voluntary (as per The Walk by King)

while dystopian deathgames are unlikely, they are not impossible, and are also not without precedent, unfortunately.

Would society ever.....didn't society used to in the ancient Coliseums?

Put me in charge and I'll pay off the national debt in 3 years. Plus, 23 less future "welfare" recipients.

C'mon people. Lets do this thing.

they didn't hold a lottery where citizens could be selected for a last man standing deathmatch no

Current US society, no

MMA, boxing and hockey provide enough blood and violence for most people currently
