Does Anyone Here Own A Sleep Number Bed, Do You Like It?

We just ordered a Sleep Number bed around a week ago. We bought the Value Bed and will be assembling it on our own when it arrives. It is pricey, but my better half has wanted one for a long time and we both agreed it was time.

The last mattress that we actually loved was a Serta that we bought many, many years ago. It was a firm mattress that could be turned over when needed. We had it for so long, and the edges were still firm enough to sit on, and it didn't sink or lump in the middle....but we felt we deserved a new mattress after so long, We've been though a lot of mattresses since then, the ones you can't turn over, and have not been happy with any of them.

We're gentle on our mattresses, we're not obese, we don't have any kids around jumping on them...but, the edges give way quickly, where you can't sit on the side of the bed to do anything without sliding off of the mattress. Also, there are lumps or dips throughout the mattress.

The Sleep Number bed we bought is a King, all our beds have been King sized for decades now. Hoping this bed will be good for us and last for a long, long time. Does anyone here currently have a Sleep Number? Do you like it?

Personally I can sleep like a log anywhere. I don't even pay attention to what I'm sleeping on. Floor is fine.

But we got one of these sleep number mattresses because my wife wanted them, and she now absolutely loves it. You can even adjust it depending on your mood.

That sounds good, thanks for your reply! I think the remote would wear out if people started making adjustments according to their mood.

How long did it take to get delivery, did you assemble yourself? It's a week today since I ordered and haven't been able to track the package, so it likely hasn't shipped yet.

Re: Does Anyone Here Own A Sleep Number Bed, Do You Like It?

***READ THIS>>> I have clients who bought a "king size" sleep number bed about 8 years ago(+/-). But a "king size" is actually just 2 single Sleep Number beds pushed together! The upside, is that each has its own separate mattress, controls, frame etc. But its NOT really a single king bed that you'd want to cuddle or romance in the center of, due to the separate frames and few inches of gap between the 2.

A salesperson came to their home to promote the Sleep Number bed, and it turned out that buying this product is like haggling for a better price in Tijuana! Only, my client was NOT aware of the "haggling option", so she assumed the price she was offered WAS the OFFICIAL PRICE. So she paid what he asked, which was over $4,500 for the "king"! Turns out she probably couldve haggled for 1/2 that price or maybe less, but she didnt know!

Next, the general frame and adjustable mechanics "seem" pretty durable. But the mattresses look cheap as hell, as do the pumps that "adjust" the firmness by pumping in, or removing air. The remotes look cheap too. Her husband's side of the bed had mattress issues after just a couple years, and her mattress is trashed now, and has been for some time.

All in all, I wouldnt buy one myself. I'd just buy a good, name brand mattress model thats been around long enough to receive very good long term reviews. I get the feeling some of the "memory foam" mattresses will lose their shape, with permanent body-shaped indentations after not a long time!

Thanks for that ModerationNow, I knew it was two separate mattresses, that made the most sense since they can be set to different numbers. I have read a lot of positive and negative reviews. I have an online friend who has had her king size for years, she and her husband love it.

Mine is already ordered, but hasn't shipped yet. We got the basic value model and will be using our old king bed frame to put it on. We've had a lot of high end quality mattresses, but they never lasted and all had issues. Figured we'd give this a try, I'll post here and let everyone know if we like it or hate it. I'd never get a foam bed, tried them and know someone who hates his.

Biggest positive is that if your bed partner pisses you off you can deflate them in their sleep.

Well, the bed was delivered in a timely fashion and we assembled it ourselves, pretty easy to do. So far we've had it less than a week and we both like it and are happy with the purchase.

We were considering it but then the VA went and just GAVE Karen an actual hospital bed, complete with the medical grade version of a sleep number mattress complete with the computer, pump and fully adjustable frame.
Yes, there's a slight gap between her bed and mine but we've managed to use a handful of heavy duty reusable zip ties to strap the two frames together, so the gap is tiny and not noticeable.
Me, I now have the lovely memory foam mattress she used to use and my bed frame is the other half of what used to be two adjustable frames.
Our son now has the side that used to be hers.

You can't tell hers is a hospital bed unless you go to her side where the collapsible rails are, which we don't use as she doesn't ever fall out of bed.
The pump is a wee bit noisy but it might turn on maybe once a night, usually when she first gets in bed and when she gets out in the morning.
Other times it only goes on for a second or two, so it's not so terrible.
But it is definitely the pro version of a sleep number bed because it does all the same tricks and more...it damn near mixes drinks and walks the dog.

As for "romance" the solution is simple...we mostly frolic around across the two mattresses, perpendicular to the direction we lie when we sleep.
    No gap noticed!
And since her bed can raise itself to almost four and a half feet off the floor that comes in handy, too!
The bedframe sits inside of the main part of the frame, so you can guess this is a heavy duty unit, much more heavy duty than is needed for a 115 pound lady, but it says it can handle up to a 650 pound person.

    The brand is Hill-Rom.

I'm the same way. I only sleep about 4-5 hours tops anyway. But I can sleep sitting in a chair as long as I can rest my head on something. My theory on sleep is that when you are at the point where your sleep/wake time is decided on organically--- as in when you are tired and when your not tired. Then you will always sleep fine. People who go to bed before they are tired enough to basically just lay their head down and fall asleep inside of a minute or two--- always have the most problems trying to get comfortable. Go to bed when you are tired and you'll find yourself being good to go after 4-5 hours.
