Well, I have and interesting story

Many moons ago, I was dating a Women who was much older than me

She had a friend that was suppose to have these physic abilities.

She read my palm. I will never forget her eyes . She was like in a trance I had never seen before . Just that alone was incredible

She said that I had problem with my lungs. Guess what? I was a premature baby and my lungs were not fully developed

There was no way she could have know that. There was something else, but I cannot remember what it was.
 
I believe there are people out there who have refined a way to extract money from people, by claiming to be psychic!:mrgreen:

If psychic abilities were real, we would employ them to buy stocks. The military would be all over having them on SEAL Teams. Even professional gamblers would employ them. Even small insights could be used for large gains...

If you had responded that your lungs were just tested and everything was fine, she'd just say it's something in the future she must have seen. They're frauds. They pray on gullibility.

To be precise, the word in the bible that is used specifically talks about people who get information from the spirits of the dead. That's the problem when dealing with translations from people who are not very expert. You get bad information. The whole 'palm reading' thing is not channeling spirits of the dead, even if it is otherwise worthless.

"anyone binding others with a spell, anyone who consults a spirit medium or a fortune-teller, or anyone who inquires of the dead." Deuteronomy 18:11

"And the spirit of Egypt will become bewildered within it,
And I will confuse its plans.
They will resort to the worthless gods,
To the charmers and to the spirit mediums and to the fortune-tellers." Isaiah 19:3

Now the works of the flesh are plainly seen, and they are sexual immorality, uncleanness, brazen conduct, idolatry, spiritism, hostility, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, dissensions, divisions, sects..." Galatians 5:19,20

The term "familiar spirits" is used nine times in the King James Version of the New Testament in reference to demons. The idea literally refers to demons that are close or familiar to a person, such as a medium or sorcerer.

The first mention of this phrase is found in Leviticus 19:31: "Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God" (KJV). God's people were not to consult with mediums or fortunetellers. Leviticus 20:6 notes God's opposition to involvement with people who communicate with evil or familiar spirits: "And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people" (KJV).

ANd, the term 'fortune tellers' is a bad translation from the Hebrew. That shows how the Christians are terribly bad at the Bible.

3And the spirit of Egypt shall empty out in its midst, and I will thwart its counsel, and they shall turn to the idols and to the sorcerers and to the necromancers and to those who divine by the jidoa bone.

Rashi's commentary :

And the spirit of Egypt shall empty out: Heb. וְנָבְקָה. His wisdom shall be emptied out. Comp. (infra 24:1) “Empties out (בּוֹקֵק) the land.”
sorcerers: Heb. הָאִטִּים, one of the names of the idols.
