Ah, John Muir. Where are men like him today? Lovely thread. This country owes John Muir a big debt of gratitude.

Thank you HumblePi, agree. :)

Another good one by John Muir

Love that, and have experienced it.

See signature link, Deep Ecology. While I disagree with the supernatural aspect, that's a minor part and more illustrative than requisite. It's mainly about the effect a wilderness experience can have on someone and how that moves us and our paths. It claims that an environmental awakening can only truly occur as a result of communion with nature. Despite all the flowery language that comes with every ideology, there are notions and ideas that ring true. I consider it a cornerstone of my worldview (with the other links therein). It's ecocentric.

You ask, "Where are men like John Muir these days"? Well, good news! I think I've located his son Mike Muir, the founding member and lead singer of Suicidal Tendencies, AND Infectious Grooves! I wonder if he inherited his love for hardcore punk, funk metal and crossover thrash from his father John?? Hmm..... Probably so! Here he is: {Lol}
