Since human counting numbers is based on ten, would not you say the beginning of the new decade is 2021? And not 2020, just as the new millennium began in 2001.

You can make equally valid arguments either way to be honest. If anything, base-ten counting is the reason we view the decade from 2010 to 2019, because 2020 is when the tens digit rolls over. The 2011 to 2020 option comes from the fact the Gregorian calendar is based from year 1 rather than year 0.

Since we generally don't need to count decades all the way back 2000+ years but we do use base-ten digits all the time, the 2010 to 2019 decade is always going to make more instinctive sense.

This is, frankly, one of the least messed up thing about our calendars anyway. :cool:

0 is a number.
After 9 you reset the count by adding 1 to 0 and starting over with 10.
So, 2020 is the start of new decade.

I am not a computer, but a person, so I start counting with 1 and not 0

Actually, everyone always counts 0s.
How many elephants do you own? If none than it’s 0.

The year you were born were you one year old?

I wasn't zero years old, I was one day old, one week old, one month old, etc.

I *see* 20/20 as the perfect year...:cool::2razz:

Yes, the time and space between 0 and 1 is measurable. From 2020 to 2021 equals one year in time. Makes sense to me.

Now wie are well into the Twenties! :)
