Not sure if everyone is tracking but if you're a Verizon unlimited data customer you get free Disney + for 12 months. That's the only way I'm using it. Streaming services is starting to turn into what cable was before, where you had to pay for a bunch of different channels so I'm drawing a line here but if it's free, I'll totally take it.

Anyways, if ya'll didn't know before, now you do. Enjoy!

The advantage of streaming over cable is you can actually customize to you tastes. With cable I had to have all those sports channels I never watched. With streaming I get to select only what I want and don't have to suffer with others. I have long been an advocate of a la carte cable service.

True that but the costs for all that is starting to add up.

The real question is where does it end?

I'm really curious to see that outcome because with everyone trying to launch their own streaming services and gating their licensed content behind it, surely, surely it can't be viable in the long term, it just... Can't be can it?

I do wonder.

Either cable and most of the streaming services implode and two or three big boys pick up the pieces or somehow a bunch of services survive off niche subscribers, not sure which is more likely.

I only have Netflix and amazon prime that I pay for. And the only reason we have prime is we buy a lot of stuff there so pay for the year free 2day and some times next day shipping and prime is included in that. I signed up for the Disney plus free since I am Verizon customer but I can already tell I won’t keep it after the year is up. It’s “ok” but not great.

I would take anything free or otherwise from that company

A combination I expect. The market can accommodate all the models, its simply a matter of what the business model targeted for. The main thing that will rule and always will, is content. Content is king. Those with good content will thrive, those without good content will die.

We get Prime with our phone service, so that's no additional charge. Hulu and Netflix, and I think that's it. I'd have to double check with the spouses, bit that's all I watch. I have a back log, so no point in subscribing to anything else.

I think pirating will pick back up soon, if this keeps up. I remember the days when basically everything was pirated but that died down a lot with streaming services but I think it will make a comeback.
