I am starting this thread with two posts. I am not American, but as it turns out my two posts come from Grammy performances.

I am older than most here. Please enjoy these live performances. Please post some I can enjoy.

My Number one is this tribute to Janis Joplin - 2005 Grammys

neil diamond barbra streisand

I might have seen something before this on like Sold Gold or wherever, but this is the one I remember the most.

Moonwalk memories.

I started watching 'reaction' videos. My favorite ones are when people watch this for the first time. Talent cuts across generations :)

I think (could be wrong) that this is when the moonwalk was introduced to the general public.

Great contribution to the thread.

If only Michael Jackson could perform on stage, he might have made something of himself.

Never saw her live, a bit before my time, really...but I heard Cher really puts on a show.

Most on this video are no longer with us. The talent cannot be denied though.
Great song - Amazing rendition - cut from the movie "The Last Waltz"

Ruining my own thread
Sorry - everytime I see Robbie Robertson, leader of The Band, I think of this solo effort: not live - video - but I love it :)

i pleasantly remember this odd pairing:

Back on track
Won't get fooled Again

One upmanship.

One of the best live performance of this amazing song

SNL had some great performances but this one with Jerry and Bobby on David Letterman has stuck in my head for decades.

This Bowie performance on SNL has also been etched in my mind

SNL The Man Who Sold The World on Vimeo

The best I can do is a link since I can't find it on Youtube

-edit-

Or, by pure accident, I guess the link does bring up the video!

-edit 2-

Or not.

The music here is great but it's the interview that takes the cake!

I have changed my mind about this performance. There is no doubt that MJ had talent. But this is an example of Michael lip syncing to a studio recording.

Too bad. but safe move on live T.V.

i pleasantly remember this odd pairing:

The one thing the late 60s and early 70s did better than any other era in music was to explore new territory. Blues, Latin, Classical, Jazz, AfroBeat and Reggae all got dragged into the mix and the consumer of music inevitably got dragged along with it. Not everything worked but some truly amazing music was created and the resistance to crossing genera fell away.

One of my favorites Selena, so many to choose from but had to go with her last live performance at the Astrodome.

It's a little long but she is classic here, someone who owns the stage and shines.
