How do you all feel about them? I had a torque converter company horribly upset because I told them their product failed constantly, their rebuilders admitted the problem but their chief saleman/owner swears no other shop has ever had a problem with them. We had a 75% failure rate with them, so high every torque converter of theirs cost us money instead of making money, but the owner insists it must be my work not their converter, with their own guys admitting multiple times problems with clutch linings from their supplier or straight up improper builds.

After one last one failed I told him to take his junk product, he came by today with one torque converter tore apart swearing nothing was wrong, because the clutch lining was intact, but he tried to show it in a rapid manner before taking off where he left the tore apart torque converter. I saw as did others as well as even a female manager who has no clue about them that the plastic stator bushing was destroyed, as well as the stator grinding against the impeller and turbine indicating clearance was extremely off in their build. Earlier this year he tried the same thing, the builder admitted over the phone he did not have the proper tools and screwed it up, but the owner insisted nothing was wrong but tried to hide the heavy damage to the bmw converter clutches, we ended up after another attempt getting another brand and it worked after that.

Now most of you probably have no clue about my automatic transmission jargon mumbo jumbo, however I will say when I have a failure on my end, I do not lie or bs people, I investigate the point of failure to prevent it from happening again. I am sure many people in many professions have ran into the same crap, shady salesmen blaming everyone else for their products always failing, and always saying no one else but you are having xyz problem.

But we're not going to worry about which company this is?

By the way, speaking of automatic transmissions, what's wrong with this picture?

SHIT to PARK.jpg

75% failure rate is convincing

... to everyone except the owner of the company making products that work only 25% of the time

Not to mention what you have to do to get the damn thing into PARK.

How do you all feel about them?

1. I "dislike" dishonest companies "very much."

2. Here in Los Angeles, a lot of taxicab companies were turning a blind eye to their cabbies who had a secret button they pushed to make the meters go faster. Finally, the city cleaned up the problem, but even now in 2019, some cabbies have found a new way to make their meters go faster.

3. A new dishonest practice has arisen: More and more cabbies refuse to honor senior discount cards. The taxi companies are turning a blind eye to this new development. The city government does not take vigorous action to stop this outrage.

4. When I hear taxicab companies cry about losing business to ride-sharing companies, I have very little sympathy for them.

I bet he won't stay in business too long.

He has been in business a long time, longer than I have been alive, he builds converters for semi trucks, tractors and even tanks as the main line, he does very good with those. His light truck and passenger car products though have been terrible like his remanufacturing is stuck in the 1980's and he still works like a torque converter from a 2016 bmw must be no different in procedure from a 77 amc eagle.

BUt at same time you are blaming the salesman for products he isn't building failing. Find a new supplier and be done with it.

Honest businesses went out with the cast iron Powerglide. You could have an end consumer customer file a complaint with your state's attorney general office for consumer fraud. Since you're a business purchaser, I don't think you could do that. However, if you installed one that shipped in the customer's name, that could be an avenue.

I work for an honest business they do exist, it just shames me to see such a run around to avoid admitting there is a problem and avoiding fixing it. I go through everything when I see a failure, I do not look at xyz part failed and throw another at it, I like to know why it failed and how to prevent it, as comebacks are not only expensive but also bad for business.

But it is bad to see the same thing every time fail, xyz brand part in this case torque converter, and even knowing the guy for quite a while is not enough to justify his shady actions.

Technically the salesman is the owner as well, and is also the one denying the failures, and having talked to his guys over there I have already figured out he is behind much of the poor quality ie telling his guys to cut corners to save a buck.

We already had other suppliers, this was a keep it local to texas thing, which we regretted big time over getting them from warehouses where the products were built in new hampshire or california or arizona.

Looks like a legit chrysler 9 speed tsb and work order that spell checker was deemed an afterthought.

Btw did you ever think you might be the best costumer they ever had??

A costumer?
I've been a DP, editor, soundie, grip, had a cameo appearance in a film, even been a generator operator.
But I've never worked in the wardrobe dept.

Oh yeah, this is not about my car, just found on the internet, made me chuckle.
