How about a thread to discuss out vacations and trips including the much underrated day trips?

I'll start. Me and Mrs. azgreg are headed to Utah next week to do some hiking at Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park with a stop at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Can't wait.

Headed to Portland, OR. as soon as my grandson's football season is over; Nov. first. for a week.
The attraction, my son's family, (a couple of my young granddaughters) who we haven't seen since July.

Next trip after that, (early spring)...Sanibel Island, Fl; to visit with more family and lifelong friends.

Two years out...we are now in the planning stages for a trip to Paris right after my oldest gdaughter graduates from HS.
We've been telling her since she was a little princess that we're taking her to Paris, (a lifelong dream of hers).

Puerto Vallarta end of Nov for four weeks. There is a reason Puerto Vallarta is one of the top five destinations for us gay men, and its not the tacos.;)

On the Rhine river as we speak. Cruise from Frankfurt to Cologne. Berthed at Boppard, kilometer marker 571. Flying back on Sunday 27OCT. Interesting to get the foreign perspective on things.

Must be subtle. I spent about 10 days there without seeing any overt gaiety going on.

Off to Australia (Northern Beaches suburb of Sydney) in December for 3 months. Son and growing family live there.

No big vacation plans for me, I am trying to pay off my house in the next few years.

I have wanted to visit Portland for a long time. Have you been before?

You obviousy stay in the Hotel District. You take a wander to Zona Romantica.

Oh yeah! If you like continuous rain... you'll love it.
It's real green for a reason.

I've been there about 8 times since my son moved there in 2016. They visit us too when they are able. They love it, so I can't complain. Son, as a child, grew up in Chicago so he doesn't mind the gloom. He loves the outdoors, and hiking. His little girls do too. I'm surprised his CA. native wife likes it, but she does! So Portland has a lot of appeal to those who love the outdoors and cooler weather. Their coastline is beautiful, sun rarely shines, rocky, not at all like San Diego but it's stunning. And their fall weather, the colors are spectacular. The best I've ever witnessed.
A two hour plane ride is easy peasy.

Utah is beautiful. Enjoy your trip.

I want to check out the Shanghai tunnels.

Wonderful.
Have a great time. I stopped there on a cruise a number of years back.
You'd probably like Palm Springs since you are gay, but you probably already know this. Such a friendly place.

We are only 90 minutes from PS, and hubby and I visit about six times a year. The attraction? They have the best little boutique resorts and spas in the west and a great casino where we enjoy playing blackjack.

Enjoy castle watching... awesome!
Viking or?

We took a day cruise on the Rhine while on a Globus tour a numbers of years back.
We took a big Mediterranean cruise after spending a few days in Venice and embarking from there. Fun but hectic.

UniWorld......wife found them 10-12 years ago and have never had a reason to try the competition......love the Mediterranean!

I'd better get some more cold weather gear.

Heading out in the late morning. We'll stay in Page tomorrow night then drive straight for Zion Tuesday morning. Can't wait.

Heading to Montreal with grandson to see hockey game.
Also heading to Florida for a month to get out of the cold.

I'm retired and live in Florida - say what you will about either or both, I'm always on vacation.

How's this for a lunch spot?

That setting requires better fare and better china!

When your hiking it in in your back back that china is just fine.

Going next weekend to the wife's alma mater in South Bend, IN for the Notre Dame/Navy game. Great campus to spend the day touring if ever you get the chance.

Normally I'd be getting ready to make my annual pilgrimage to the Holy Land (The Palazzo, Las Vegas) during the week of Thanksgiving.

BUT

I don't have anyone to watch my dog. Grrrrrr.....

In 12 years the good ol' boy has never been boarded in a kennel and I'm not going to make his last few years a time to start.

SO

We're hosting the holiday instead.

Gonna shoot for a 10 day after Christmas to go somewhere but if we run into the same problem.....
