RIP Polgara

I just returned from a trip (and absence from DP) to learn that our fellow DP'er Polgara had passed away. This may already be known, but if not I thought her passing should be marked. She was among the kindest posters and a person motivated by genuine curiosity. Her generous spirit will be missed. RIP, Polgara.

What? Where did you see this news?

I just looked for her the other day because I noticed she hadn't been around and she'd posted relatively recently.

I knew her from somewhere else but I forget where. Been awhile.

Anyway,

Goodbye, Polgara.

:2wave:

Terrible news. I've known Polgara since we used to post on politico. Always a kind word for all. The sweetest, kindest person I've ever met while online.

Yes. It's been that long.
To be honest I never could figure how she did it.

Makes me sad just thinking about her absence.
I'm really feeling a sense of loss with Polg's passing.

Damn...that sucks! I liked Polgara :(

Shocking, and so very sad. I thought the world of her sunny spirit, her genuine kindness, and thoughtful gestures toward others. RIP, dear polgara; you will be sorely missed. :(

I never had the pleasure of knowing her, but may Polgara rest peacefully.

My condolences to her family. How very shocking and sad.

RIP Polgara.

Such a lovely person she was. I am deeply saddened to hear this terrible news. She will be greatly missed here at DP. :(

Damn, that's too bad, Polgara was a good one....

I did not really know her well, but I sorry for her loved ones, family and friends and may she rest in peace.

So very sorry to hear of this, best wishes and thoughts for her family and friends.

I can't think of a single DP member who came across as more kind and more cheerful than Polgara. Condolences to all who miss her.

She was simply one of the sweetest people I knew here and had always kind words for everyone; a lesson for us all I think.

She will be greatly missed.

Totally unexpected, by me. May she R.I.P.

no :( :( :(

She chose the name of one of my fave literary characters and we had talked about that once, she was such a class act. I'm a bit devastated now.

That sucks. Polgara was a great person and probably one of the best members of DP.

R.I.P. Polgara.

I'm gonna miss her. Nobody could break the tension in a thread and cheer you up like she did. The world desperately needs more people like Polgara.

Having never met or interacted with her (based on the expressions of condolences and sympathy made in this thread) is a lost to me. She obviously made a huge impact to this Board and my heart goes out to all of you who knew her well. May she RIP.

Polgara was a true throwback to a kinder, gentler time.

RIP. :2wave:

She will be missed.

I don't think I ever interacted with her, but it says a great deal about someone's basic character when total anonymity brings out adjectives like these. Imagine what she must have been like without the complacency of anonymity.

I'm afraid I didn't know her, but I do know what its like to lose family members. Lost a couple very close family members recently. Still trying to recover. Only thing I can say is that if someone passes and they impacted your life positively, even in a small way, you are part of their legacy. Helps to remember that we are all connected. I do believe in the Butterfly Effect to some degree.

RIP to a butterfly I didn't know.

And yet another light in a dark world has gone out. Just when you think the dozens of other deaths (personal and otherwise) of good and smart people to occur in the past 5 years or so have hardened you enough another one happens and it is still just as much of a blow even if you don't know them personally

My heart was ripped at Maggie's passing, and also now Polgara, one of the most supportive, honest, gentle, and caring people at DP. RIP Polgara and godspeed to brightening up your life apart from Planet Earth. We are the poorer for it that you are gone.
