Crew digging cut the cable line going to my house. Going to be two weeks before it gets fixed.

No internet at the house, for two weeks!

I gave up cable a decade ago. Get increased data for your phone and live with it. If it were longer I would suggest one of the broadcast band internet services.

Sounds like ya gotta law suit there...:2razz:

Ouch! The least they could do is offer an alternative while you wait for repairs.

Or at least cause to get really upset that they expect you to pay their bill in full regardless of service interruption due to factors beyond their control.

I’ve cut mine a few times and the company has always been pretty quick to splice the screw-up. I cut our cable a month or two ago trying to firm up a loose railing by sinking sharpened 2x4 stakes in the ground at the 4x4 supports. The wife says “the cable is out.”
I called the company and that same day the guys came out and were checking the service from the street to the house. As the tech was checking, I had a “eureka” moment and knew what I had done. The cable runs very close to the first railing support. They weren’t going to charge me, but I tipped the well.

Anyway, why does a splice take two weeks in this day and age?

Call the cable company and tell them you want it disconnected since they are not providing service. Refuse anything they offer, get transferred to a retention specialist and hold your line no service means disconnect.

My understanding of the OP was that whatever happened to the cable wasn’t the fault of the provider. No benefit getting crappy with them??

No the OP really needs to get crappy with them if they want their service back in less than two weeks.

Cable company suspended billing until the line is reconnected, no issues there.

That would kill me, I work at home, and I would have to travel to the office, try to find a parking space, reserve a desk, and go out in the 110 degree heat...and wear pants...:lamo

Some places you have to lay a board in the trench on top ofthe cable. I guess that's not the case everywhere.

When I first moved out of my parent's basement, that's what I did while waiting for FIOS to get installed at my apartment. It took them two weeks so I just increased my data plan a couple of gigs in the meantime. I survived just fine, but granted this was 5 years ago when streaming was still in its infancy.

Tell the cable company either you have Fox News by today or you are getting Satellite.

I got a Verizon Jet Pack with unlimited data for a guy I take care of. Runs $70/mo and has been fine for all his needs.

I’m not signing up for cable TV!

If you want to pay for unlimited data and casting privileges, you can make your phone a hub and never buy separate internet again.

Most the stuff in a home will not work via phone data.

I have unlimited phone data and love it for travel but it's near useless at home.

Yeah but I get 1 GB/S

Better then mine used to be. Now it get to piggy back on my wife's phone addiction.

I hate phones. They are always interrupting.

You just need a router. No biggie. Go to where ever you buy electronics and use these words, "How do I cut the cable?"

You honestly think phone data can handle all the devises a home uses?

If so, can you please provide me with a link that supports this. It would be much appreciated.

I have 400 Mbps , I have not heard anyone previous claim phone data can match that.
