How to teach white people a lesson about offensive Halloween customes?

So I have this annual costume party I go to for Halloween and I've started planning my costume now because I'll have to make at least parts of it. I want to create a costume that will make a point to white people about costumes that are offensive caricatures of minority stereotypes.

So I asked myself how I could make costumes that would get under the skin of white people and make them really think about how they portray minority groups with their costume choices. The first thing that came to my mind is that people love the Indian warrior costumes and mascots so I could go as a knight, but I then I figured people will just take me for some kind of geeky Dragons and Dungeons character and I tossed that idea

Then I thought about going as a Bubba or Jim Bob wearing a MAGA hat, but then people would interpret that as political and not racial and I'd get high-fives.

Then I thought going as a hippie but that's not a racial stereotype but rather a subcultural one.

So does anyone have any idea what the white equivalent would be of dressing up as a Mexican mariachi costume or a black urban gangster costume? I'm honestly at a loss, here.

Very popular I am told...

A Rolling Stones' lips t-shirt under a bright red floral print Hawaiian shirt, clashing red, pink, purple, green & blue plaid Bermuda shorts, black support hose to the knee, over shined brown oxfords on the feet, a short brimmed fishing hat with flies pinned, a Kodak camera hung from a strap around his neck. An American flag pin on his shirt collar, a Timex watch on the wrist, and an ugly tattoo on the back of one calf, Mickey Mouse tattooed on his bicep. A whistle on a lanyard hanging from a belt loop to summon his kids and wife, and don't forget a cheap imitation concho belt with red suspenders.

Then, I could be describing an Asian tourist, or that nerdy black guy Irwin who lives up the block?

Going to the party in black-face would be interesting.

I'd say you're teaching a lesson to yourself by not being able to come up with anything, but that requires introspection, so probably not.

Exactly!

Slather yourself in Preparation H and go as a human hemorrhoid or is that too close to RL?

I’m going to dress up as an Native American with dreadlocks and big hoop earrings, and top it off with a sombrero.

There ya go. If people are going to bitch and whine no matter what, you might as well go all in.

XFactor, you're a right winger and possibly a closet white pride guy. Dust the cobwebs off the old thinking cap and try to think of a costume that would be considered an affront to your whiteness. Maybe you can help me.

If anyone's got dust on their thinking cap; it's you.

Reading through this thread, I think the focus is way off course for some here. Children--at least all but maybe children of the silliest hyper liberals these days--have all been encouraged to have active imaginations and pretend. Why must it be considered an affront or insulting or demeaning or insensitive or whatever to dress up as a Mexican vaquero if you happen to be a kid of Italian heritage from the Bronx? Or the kid with red hair and an Irish name who dresses up like an Arab sheik? Why can't it be seen that the kids LIKE the idea of being a Mexican bandito or Arab sheik? What is it about that that offends those who are of Mexican or Arab heritage?

Such figures exist in history as do all the characters we read about in our English and history books as kids, names that we were required to memorize for tests, etc. If a kid dresses up like a Mafia boss or Hell's Angel or Abraham Lincoln, who assumes he thinks all men are like Al Capone or a Hell's Angel or Abraham Lincoln? Why should a person of Mexican heritage think a kid dressed like a Mexican bandito thinks that is typical of all Mexicans? Or a kid dressed like Lawrence of Arabia is taunting or making fun of Arabs?

Seems to me that when kids are taught that it is wrong to emulate such characters, they are being taught that there is something wrong with or distinctly different about those 'other' people and to not associate with them.

It's positively nuts.

Somewhere deep inside the code of the progressive mind:

Code:
if( person.costume == "batman" )
   me.conclude( "this guy probably likes batman" );

else if( person.costume == "albert einstein" )
   me.conclude( "this guy might like or respect albert einstein" );

else if( person.costume == "harry potter" )
   me.conclude( "this guy might be a fan of harry potter" );

else if( person.costume == "mahatma gandhi" && person.race != races.WHITE )
   me.conclude ( "this guy might like or respect mahatma gandhi" );

else if( person.costume == "mahatma gandhi" && person.race == races.WHITE )
   me.conclude( conjunction.and( "this guy must think all indians are gandhi", "this guy must be mocking all indians" ) );

else if( person.costume == "steven hawking" && person.race == races.WHITE )
   me.conclude( "this guy must be mocking disabled people" );

else if( person.costume == "mariachi band player" && person.race == races.WHITE )
   me.conclude( "this guy must think all Mexicans play in mariachi bands" );

else if( person.costume == "mariachi band player" && person.nationality == nationality.MEXICAN )
   throw new DoesNotComputeError( "there... are... no... real... Mexican... mariachi... bands... ERROR! ERROR!" );

else if( person.costume == "gangster" && person.race == races.WHITE ) {
   me.conclude( "this guy is dressed as a gangster, hence he's obviously black" ).ignoreOwnStereotyping();
   me.conclude( "this guy must think all black people are gangsters" );
}

if( me.getLatestConclusion().isChallenged )
   throw new HissyFit( StandardHissyFits.RACIST_RACIST_RACIST );

I don't know how to dress up where someone says "that's a suburban mom" when they see it rather than seeing just a bigoted transphobic costume.

Just because I make DP members ashamed to be white doesn't mean that happens in real life.

Why would anyone in their right mind try to make anyone ashamed of their race/ethnicity?

The idea of dressing up is always: Dress up as somebody else.

Only stupid politically over-correct types can see something wrong in that.

Can't argue with that.
