Best guitarist?

Can't remember if anyone listed Angus and Malcolm or not...

My favorites include Eric Clapton, Joe Bonamassa, Buddy Guy, Richard Thompson, Gary Moore, David Gilmour, Steve Howe, Jeff Beck.

Tom Scholz of the band "Boston" was considered talented in his day.

DAVID GILMOUR
ALEX LIFESON
ULI JON ROTH
ALVIN LEE
LES PAUL
PETER GREEN

Among others...

OM

There are SO many but Mark Knopfler and Gary Hoey are two of my favorites. Who do you think is THE best?? Rock and roll. (Believe it or not, Prince was amazing.)

Chris Cornell

Only because there were great guitarists who play some of the most ****iest **** on the chords but Soundgarden dared to ****ed to the chordes they played with to begin with.

The Russian guy (Sergey Kashirin) who plays for this cover band is great.

Joe Satriani has always had a great following (good guitar player)

But to me it is, was and will always be Randy Rhoads

And in a complete song

i know you said Rock...

what about southern rock, or country

Chet Atkins
Brad Paisley...boy can sing and pick
Roy Clark...famous for his time on Hee Haw

just 3 from another genre....but all GREAT artists

the two i would put at the top of any list would be Hendrix and Clapton though

Finally! Tom should be listed twice for every once Clapton is listed. To that, add Gilmour, Al Dimeola, John Mclaughlin, Ann Wilson, Eddie VH, Larry Carlton, Kirk Hammett, Allen Collins, Gary Rossington and Steve Gaines, and a large number of heavy metal guitarists that's too long to list....

Roy Clark, along with Jose Feliciano, were my inspiration for learning to play the guitar. I remember watching them play on TV when I was very, very young and being very impressed with how much music they created on their own.

I got to meet Mr. Feliciano when I worked as a limo driver. We spoke, pretty much one on one, for about 30 minutes. He's an awfully friendly and warm man.

And he really loves puns

Southern Rock? In my last post, I added Gary Rossington, Allen Collins, and Steve Gaines. From the 80s and 90s metal genre, I'll add Marty Friedman.

Chet Atkins , although not noted for Rock, would be my choice for the greatest guitarist. Was Les Paul mentioned by anyone?

Duane Allman certainly deserves a mention.

And how about the truly bizarre Eugene Chabourne who, among other things, put a pickup on a garden rake and plays it?

Jan Akkermans is a Euro-giant. Thy to ignore the antics of Thijs van Leer on organ vocals flute!

What do you do when US TV gives you a four-minute slot to play a seven minute song? ...You cram it in at double speed"

John Williams with Prog Rock colleague, the self-taught Kevin Peek!

It will be someone we never heard of that never got famous.

Michael Hedges was pretty good though.
