I have just learned it and wanted to share it with other members and with guests.
You all know that the Internet has destroyed many American newspapers (printed on PAPER) by taking away almost all classified advertising.
A few American newspapers continue to be comprehensive sources, but most American newspapers have closed down or have become a shadow of their former selves: They have cut down the number of pages, print mostly handouts from the government, corporations, and activists. They have fired so many reporters that there is very little if any investigative reporting. If you want supermarket ads, fine. But don't expect much local, state, national, and foreign news.
Well, one Ken Doctor at Harvard has come up with this neat abbreviation: NINO: Newspaper in name only.

I googled for its pronunciation but could not find a source. I came across the more popular abbreviation RINO ("Republican in name only"), so if push comes to shove, I have decided to rhyme "NINO" with "RINO."
