    LOL!
Me not responding means it's a waste of my time and/or I don't play stupid games. I read it, eye-rolled, and moved on.

Her paint allowance was $5,000 for a 2,100 sf house.

My second realtor said I should paint immediately. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. She said that if I decided not to paint, that I should offer a paint allowance.

Her paint allowance was anywhere from $8,000 to $10,000.

I have received 2 quotes to paint my house, from two professional painters. Both have quoted me around $1,500 to paint (including paint).

Do realtors get some kind of kick-back from the painters? I am floored at the difference in what they say I should allow, and what it is actually going to cost.
Painting costs can vary pretty wildly. I just paid 10K to paint the inside and outside of the house I moved in to. That was for all time, ceilings, all walls and kitchen and bathroom cabinets. I also shelled out probably 1500 in paint. House is roughly 2500 sq ft, 4 bed 3 bath house. If I had only asked the guy to do no trim, no ceilings, no cabinets, I'm sure it would have been much cheaper. So if your trim and ceilings are good colors and in good shape then probably just pay the 1500 and get it painted. I recommend going with a very light grey as opposed to a neutral beige. Seems to be the new thing, at least in my area.

Yes, some realtors get kickbacks. I'm not sure if it's very ethical, but they do it. But she might have also been suggesting the price it would cost to paint everything from top to bottom. Not sure.

Ah...you meant hire someone to do it..
Yeah, my knee is ****ed up. I hate going to the doctor, so I have been avoiding it, but it's affecting my quality of life, so I am going tomorrow. I fell back in December about 3 feet down on a patch of ice, right on my left knee. It still hurts, so no, I'm not going to do it myself.

Not sure - but we aren't painting the trim. Just the walls. Thanks!

    Ouch...

Yeah, I mean, that'd be my view. If I can do it, I'll do it. If I've got an issue than **** it.

I run and lift a lot, so I seem to just about always have some nagging injury. Fortunately, nothing serious since high school (I was bench pressing and so was the guy next to me, but some idiot had moved the benches too close together, so as I was going up he was lowering the bar, and the result was about 400lbs or so on one shoulder. That took a month before the constant ache stopped......and then another seven years until I could stop being so careful about what I did with that shoulder).

Kitchen and bath are both fine - they are pretty. No major bells and whistles, but I did install a $1,000 dishwasher a couple of months ago when we thought we were staying.

    Thanks!
I have to say, teal is my favorite color EVER! I would drool over this kitchen, lol.

I used to run a lot more than I do now. The older I get, the more I notice it's harder to recover. Could be what's wrong with my knees now - bad choices of shoes or something. And ouch on the shoulder! *wince*

Actually teal is the upstairs bedroom. The kitchen is hunter green.

My husband and I were talking last night - he's big and gruff, and he said, "This house is too dark. I hate dark colors. The next house we get is going to be much brighter." I said, "It is, is it?" And he growled, "Yeah." I said, "The wife wanted a green kitchen. I wanted a light colored kitchen. So we compromised and got a green kitchen." He didn't find that too amusing, but I know he will let me have it my way, because I know best when it comes to this kind of thing.

He always grumbles about the colors until people come in and talk about how great they are, and then he is like, "Aw, thanks! We are the only house in the neighborhood with these colors!"

Oh, mylanta. Coming up on the end of 2 days worth of having painters here, and they still have the upstairs and the hall to paint.

    I want my house back.

    I want it green again.

    I'm so ****ing tired.
