13 year old girl recovered after 3 months of confinement by her parents murderer

I had porcini ravioli with olive oil for dinner. Reserved for decent adults and children. A treat for the grandkids. We drank a simple table chianti, the kids enjoyed grape juice. Homemade with Belgian chocolate pudding for desert with coffee or milk as appropriate.
If they knew this was awaiting them if caught, the vast majority would never attempt it.

I'm very sorry for what you went thru and I hope that you find peace. It sounds like you are as time goes on.

Therapy and time help. My heart aches for this girl. I truly cannot imagine knowing (or watching - we don't know) this man killed your parents and is now violating you.

My heart goes out to you. Unfortunately, boys are also targets of these predators, not that knowing such can make you feel any better. I wish you freedom from fear tho fear is part of self protection. There is nothing wrong with your own vigilance. I pray you never again suffer at another's hand.

Boy are also targets and are probably less likely to report abuse especially if the abuser was male; shame is powerful gag. However, they do grow into adult males who are far less likely to be harassed or assaulted. As women, it takes much longer to "age out."

Thank you both for your kind words. I am so thankful this girl will get the help she needs and doesn't have to carry the secret of his depravity around with her.

Interesting speculation. But it misses the point. You assume you have the time for this response, but you are already dead. David had the benefit of an opponent who had no weapon to launch, expecting brawn as sufficient. Your unexpected opponent shot you first. Buh-Bye.

So, they are going to use a weapon powerful enough to penetrate the brick, wood, sheet rock, and travel trough two rooms to hit me sitting on the couch, and also take the time to calculate the shot. Then place that one shot in a place where I would be instantly unable to respond.

You are not being realistic and have not read many home invasion police reports. They are not skilled at all.

That is not how home invaders operate. I believe i will have sufficient warning...even only a few seconds....and that is all I need.

You are also ASSuming they will hit me in a vital spot to cause instant incapacitation.
You give home invaders too much credit. Most are dopeheads who can't hit anything beyond 10 feet.

...or are you writing out what you WISH would happen to me?

You have no idea what you are talking about.
Nor do you have any idea of how my home is arranged and what defenses I employ.
You also think one shot from any caliber will kill someone instantly.
You have no idea what you are talking about.

If David had a .308 he would not have been David, there would be no lesson, and no one would have ever mentioned him again....just saying.

;) Good point.

It reminds me of a joke cartoon I saw.
This scientist hops in a time machine and a little while later he comes out and runs through the lab with a gun in his hand, screaming..." I just killed Hitler"!
The other people say...Who?

https://www.foxnews.com/us/jayme-cl...seeing-her-get-on-a-school-bus-complaint-says

Jayme told detectives that on the night she was kidnapped, she was asleep in her bedroom when her dog began barking. She woke her parents up and her father went downstairs to find Patterson, dressed entirely in black, armed with a gun. Jayme said she and her mother went to hide in the bathroom.

“[Jayme] stated she heard a gunshot and knew her father had just been killed,” the complaint stated.

Her mother called 911 — which authorities previously detailed — but hung up when Patterson found them hiding.

“Patterson told her mother to put tape over [Jayme’s] mouth, which her mother did, and then Patterson shot her mother” while they were both in the bathtub, according to the complaint.

This is just heartbreaking. I just hope that there will come a day when this girl can feel somewhat "normal" again.

I just think the text would be different. " And the Lord God, gave unto David the power of the Thunderbolt, and David released God's mighty wrath
and smote Goliath!"

This case is still fascinating me.....the most unusual thing about it is that I am not at all sure that he had sex on her (as Sipowicz would say), it looks so far like she was intended to be his pet, and that he considered getting his pet a mental challenge kinda like a puzzle.

She has been smiling and laughing it has been reported.

Humans are more resilient than the Victim Culture advocates advertise.

Are you really injecting politics into this? I want you to read this excerpt from the story I linked. Read it very carefully and then try to imagine what this little girl has been through...

She listened helplessly while her dad was blown away and then watched helplessly while her mother was blown away right in front of her... and that was just the BEGINNING of the horror that this little girl had to endure.

Reality will set in as time goes by...right now, she's probably just glad to be back among family and friends...

I am telling the truth that young people are very good generally at being resilient, this is a skill that is increasingly lost as people get older in no small part because of Victim Culture. Since this victim is 13 there is a good chance that she will be fine, especially given the area of the country she lives in....these are hearty folk.

I hope you are never victimized by any violent crime. My dad taught me to never underestimate an enemy, or over estimate my own defensive skills.

I learned from experience, the moments is life when violence strikes, anticipation and expectations at that moment can be at their lowest expression, and a gun is not necessary for the attacker, or an answer for the attack. That isn't and shouldn't be see as personal to you. It is just what happens in life.

I know that Wisconsin does not have the death penalty, but does anyone think that Patterson will ever be fit to live in
society? At some point the death penalty is not about justice, but simply removing something undesirable from the gene pool.

He is being charged with two counts of first degree murder and kidnapping. The murder charges, each, carry a penalty of life without the possibility of parole.

He won't be rejoining society, ever. I only hope they stick him in the same place where they put Dahmer. Dahmer was beaten to death by a fellow inmate less than three years after he was sentenced... saving taxpayers a boatload of money.

It's been all over the headline. The kidnapping victim escapes her abductor after 3 months of captivity by the man who nobody paid any attention to, and murdered her parents to get her. Yet not a word here.

The media is being told the police have no idea if she was abused. Likely, she was abused. Yet the media flashes her name and will tell her story, and underage victim identified for lurid benefit of the press and the audience.
How does this story affect you?

It affects me in a conflicting way.

On the one hand, some things like this make me hope that maybe I'm wrong about rejecting religious mythology - specifically a hell - because of some acts that strike me as worthy of punishment in a second life. There are many "but"(s). Elsewhere, I said, on the general subject of whether the bible teaches eternal torment for baddies, post #481. Thread is closed for mod review. Not sure if I can quote anything from it. But I think I can cite it:

https://www.debatepolitics.com/beli...rment-hell-unbelievers-49.html#post1069369782

(RE: the incompatibility of the concept of a "good" God and the existence of eternal torture - torture beyond the end of the concept of "ends", time, existence, etc - for any mortal acts, even the very most evil in history).

On the other hand, some people commit such heinous crimes that I start hoping I'm wrong. I start hoping that the bill comes due, a bill no civilized society can impose on a convicted criminal without reducing itself to his or her level.

So I'll cut the difference: may he burn in hell for a term of years, Earth time.

I have been the victim of violent crime....3X
The first time I had no defenses at all and it was a 2 to 1 surprise attack.
The the other two times I had no gun, but fight them off successfully with improvised weapons, and both times i was also outnumbered.
I have learned street thugs travel in packs and never attack 1 on 1.
Now I have a concealed handgun license, but it does not mean I carry one 24/7. In fact, I seldom carry around here because the area I moved to is quite peaceful.

A big change from gang infested and crime ridden South Houston/Pasadena/Deer Park/La Porte. The Spencer Highway crime corridor I used to call it, but the best little diner anywhere for lunch was right in South Houston run by a Greek guy.

Changing geographic location had more to do with self-defense than any hardware.
However, those three experiences has taught me what to look for.

It seems that the prosecution in this case is being very careful about keeping what happened to Jayme Closs during those 88 days of captivity out of the public eye. I applaud them for it. These gruesome details add nothing to what is already a slam dunk, life without the possibility of parole, sentence.

They've got him dead to rights on two counts of first degree murder and another count of kidnapping. This guarantees that he will never again see the light of day. Having a life without the possibility of parole sentence secured means that any charges beyond those three serve no practical purpose. By NOT charging him with crimes committed while he held Jayme Closs captive, the details of those crimes will remain out of the public domain and will only become public if Jayme Closs CHOOSES to make them public. This spares her of having to re-live that nightmare again, and again, and again...

Victims should never get to decide for us what we need to know....what we get to know.

This is Rank Victim Culture Corruption.

I would say that if your analysis about the crimes they will charge him with are correct , it means that they are thinking of the best interests of Jayme as much as getting this person out of public circulation permanently.

I don't think that satisfying the wishes of perverted degenerates who are salivating to hear the gruesome details about how she was violated is much of a priority for prosecutors.

This crime happened relatively close to where I live so local news has been all over it since day 1.

The prosecution IS trying to do everything they can to protect the victim. They have him for life without the possibility of parole already and since there is no death penalty in Wisconsin, there is no higher price that he can pay. Any additional charges are meaningless from a sentencing standpoint.

Good for them. It gives them a good flexiblity to be able to protect Jayme as much as possible at this point.
