    Inmates getting puppies

I really hope the healing power of puppies/dogs gets more exposure over time. First of all, they're affection machines, and people who are struggling, whether with addiction, PTSD, etc...can certainly use that affection. They're incredibly loyal, and many struggling folks feel let down with people in general and crave that. They also give their caretaker a sense of purpose. And of course, puppies/dogs need us as well!

Repairing the court system would do a lot more for these people too. And the corrections industry. Both are a self promotion job security scam yes. They should be paid upon how many are redeemed. Not on how many can fit.

If it doesn't increase the cost of housing - no problem.
If it were the only way to keep the inmates complacent - no problem.
I doubt any of those apply.
