Well?

I've watched everything from IMSA GTP and CART, to World Rally and NHRA.:2razz:

Love racing, especially dirt oval.

Sprints or midgets?

Late models.

I used to run dirt cars here in Arizona. All the way from bombers to Super Stocks.

That's how REAL short track racing is supposed to be done.

You guys had a great speedway in Phoenix, until the Frances murdered it.

They are getting ready to change it up again. They are going to switch the front and back straightaways.

This is the kind of dirt racing I did. This is from Canyon Speedway Park.

Me too. Pure stocks, modifieds, super stocks, semi lates and late models. Another adrenalin junkie.

The hey day of racing: Al Unser, Bobby Unser, AJ Foyt, Mario, Rick Mears, Johnny Rutherford, Tom Sneva....

Let's see, who ran the regular looking cars?

Richard Petty, Cale Yorbrough, Donnie Allison, Parsons, Pearson, Buddy...and a dude named Bonnet.

They can't fill the stands as it is, why keep spending all that money to remodel the track?

One of the tracks with the best personalities was truly murdered.

Before my time a little.

I grew-up with Zanardi, Unser JR, Michael Andretti, Rahal, Montoya, and Tracy over CART.

As for as the body cars, it was Labonte, Martin, the Burtons, Wallace, and company.

80's or 90's? I'm guessing 90's, early.

I did just finish a post on a YouTube channel, where I criticized what Nascar has become. But I like drag racing, although I'm not exactly a die hard fan. In the past 2 years, I've been to 1 NHRA national event race at Maple Grove raceway, and 1 more local drag strip for what wasn't exactly an organized, pro event. It was grudge racing at Cecil County dragway. When I was 16-18 years old, I used to go to Cecil County dragway several Friday nights a year. I'd run my own car periodically. I don't watch much of any racing, but when I do, it's either WRC, formula one, or NHRA drag racing.

I've been a fan of racing since childhood back in the 50's. Used to fall asleep listening to the sounds of racing from Nazareth Speedways 1/2 mile dirt track on Saturday nights. Names like Frankie Schneider, Rags Carter, and a couple of brothers named Andretti.

We used to go to the dirt track when I was a kid. Good times.

I like anything that turns money into smoke and noise. I do think race cars should at least sorta resemble street cars, not Batmobiles... so some NASCAR, dirt track, and drag classes, even street racing (yeah, illegal and stupid dangerous). I especially like antique drags - nothing cooler than an old wheel-standing Willys gasser.

In 1972 Pocono Raceway was built 25 miles from my house. A 2 1/2 mile track with three turns replicating corners from Indy, Trenton, and Milwaukee built to host Indy Cars but in two years was hosting the stockers as well. Great days in racing with small crowds, fast speeds, and lots of action.

We saw every driver you have listed here as well as many others over the years race here. Today after an absence the Indy cars have been back for a few years and two NASCAR races a year.

Greetings, calamity. :2wave:

I went to the Indy 500 races in what you call "the hey day of racing" and I even posted my thoughts on DP back then. (I wonder how difficult it might be to "relook"at those posts?) The Unser's, Andretti's, Foyt's, and so many others are what I remember about those days, but I still watch the Indy 500 every year! The company I worked for was one of the sponsors, so I was not outside in the stands just enjoying the day like thousands of others, but was working as one of the hostesses who served food and drink to our invited guests who were sharing our space while we watched the race in air-conditioned comfort on TV. Memories.....

Sprints or midgets?

When I lived in Phoenix I used to work with the guitar player for the death metal band Obituary, Trevor Peres. He was a graphic artist where I worked. In his off time when he wasn't touring or doing graphic design, he'd race midgets. I went to the track to watch him and it was fun aside from the horrific exhaust fumes that flooded the stands.
