OK, I live in a 3rd world country where everything is cheap but service is awful. A few months back my personal high backed leather captain's chair (which I bought for $100) broke after two years- it still works but it just wobbles so I cant sit straight. Although its past warranty I could still have them pick it up for service and repair- the problem is that I called them and they said they would have to order the part from overseas and they havent gotten back to me for six months now.

Do I just bite the bullet and buy a new chair or should I keep pestering them to service it?

Six months? Haven’t you been “biting a bullet?” The wobble probably is good for your core/abs and such......

Have you tried duct tape?

For a $100 chair? Just buy a new one.

Can you determine why it's wobbling?

Might be able to get some local business to repair it somehow if everything is cheap in the area.
Or repair it yourself.
Since it's out of warranty that's not an issue.

Bite the bullet - $50/year is not an unreasonably high chair budget.

Depends...can you afford a new one comfortably, and is the expense of the new chair less than the frustration of waiting for the old one to be fixed...if it is going to be fixed.

Actually, this reminds me that the chair I bought a year or so ago needs repaired/replaced.

And I paid more than $100 for it, if memory serves.

Damnit.

Edit: Actually I bought it February of this year, have to check the warranty.

Wobbly, huh? Sell it to a wobbly person for $50.00. They probably won't even notice. Then go buy a new one.

Tighten the three inch knob on the back of it you slouch!

Is this chair a swivel rocker like an office chair ?? If so just order the part (I assume the swivel rocker mechanism) and replace it yourself.

Send it to me. I'll fix it for only $300.
And, my work is guaranteed. If I can't fix it, I'll replace that $100 chair for the same price. How can you go wrong?

My advise is to stop obsessing about it. It's just a cheap chair.

Wait. Get them to service it. If you really like the chair, you won't regret it. My daughters were wrestling on my recliner and broke it. The recliner was really nice, comfy and the leather was juuuuuust broken in to where it was perfect. I paid $500 to get it fixed. I could have paid the same and gotten a new recliner, but this one was perfect, and I didn't want to waste time breaking in another one. So yeah - if you can hold off, hold off.

I once repaired a chair a super cheap 20 dollar walmart computer chair(there is a thread way back I posted pics of it) I used a stick welder to put the back of it firmly on the base, then duct taped the back cushion to the frame. If you got a redneck streak and a welder, anything is whatever you want it to be.

Does the chair lean to one side? This was very common problem with a lot of chairs from different manufacturers. The problem is they make several different base plates from a cheap one to a heavy duty for 300lb+ people. The price varies too from about 20 dollars to about 50 dollars.

The one I have had a lever that you pulled in and out to tilt back and twist the lever to adjust the height. It is easy to change out if yo can get the piston out of the old one.

There are a couple different ones. You need to measure the bolt holes and match it up with the ones on line. Most are about $20.00.

I suggest ordering a new chair and donate the old one to someone with tools to repair the chair and give it a second life.

Well I've waited and waited, but in the end I just went ahead and bought a new one. Not worth it to keep on waiting since my back was starting to hurt when using it.

The spindle is the one that seems to be broken. Knowing how bad their servicing is, I figured it was just cheaper to buy another chair so I went to the mall today and got myself a new one for around $70.

I figured it was only a minor repair, but it seems theyre making me wait forever, so I figured I might just buy a new one, and I did.
