Really it’s just saying if you want others to consider your point of view, you have to be willing to consider theirs.

Fair enough. If you meant, like, someone openly or unquestionably racist, then I agree with you that I am unconcerned about trying to win them over, or whatever. Even there, though, if you really wanted to try get them to think differently, you’d have to be willing to sincerely hear them out.

Zell Miller once said we need to listen TWICE as much as we talk. Unfortunately, in these forums we are just waiting to say what we want to say and defend our positions. Few actually find common ground and reach an understanding. Instead of asking questions the default response tends to be “You’re wrong”. In certain cases that may or may not be the case. We tend to forget that many answers are subjective.

It's a lovely thought, but I'm not going to pretend to be a racist, misogynist, xenophobic idiot who can't grasp basic math, science or the fundamentals of Economics in the ridiculous hope that somehow a Trump supporter might listen to me.

Very few. Racism is where homosexuality used to be: kept in the closet because it's not socially acceptable.

There are lots of closeted racists, though.
