The decapitated corpse that was found on a judge’s doorstep in Aurora, Illinois has been identified as belonging to a notorious pedophile who was recently allowed to walk free on bail by the judge, according to reports.
William Smith, 28, from Aurora, Illinois was discovered in the early hours of Tuesday morning, decapitated and slumped against the front door of the judge who had granted him bail in August.

This will net them millions of hits as it spreads across social media. They will make a lot of money off of it and print a small retraction that no one will see. Sadly most people who see it will like it and share and not care about the validity of it. It is something that many would like to be true therefore they will assume it is true.

Looking at the site further, I doubt it even had much credibility to begin with. There was a breaking news article that said that 'Trump to End Child Support after 2019', and I know that's not true.

I dunno, I LIKED the story because as a father of two, I've had the same thought cross my head if a local "Chester the Molester" was freed on basically a "three thousand dollar down payment".

But it just seemed too good to be true.

it's a BS paper. I googled New York Herald and their own name doesn't register as a hit for google. The first options are wikipedia write ups about the defunct NY Herald of yesteryear way back. Then go to the website link you provided, take out the extra and go to the home page The New York Herald – Breaking News. Just read the headlines and look at the pictures they put with those headlines. It makes absolutely NO SENSE.

  2. Second.. What does military police with "Polisia" written on their uniform have to do with "Japan Foreign Minister Says Korean Penninsula Situation Is a Near..."?
  3. Third... What does a black guy wearing a BLM shirt at a protest have to do with, "North Korean 'caution' Seen in Announcing Stance on Upcoming Summits"?
  4. Fourth... What does some random woman carrying a flag that says "Walk for Freedom" have to do with... " Kathie Lee Gifford Opens up about her faith and her new book"?
  5. Fifth... What does a picture of a fighter jet have to do with, "Carson Daly Describes the Tools he uses to cope with anxiety disorder"?

Then I actually clicked on each of these stories and they are the same story:

Not quite. In 1924 the Herald merged with the Tribune, becoming the NY Herald Tribune, commonly called the Herald by its readers and competitors who were too challenged by the additional two syllables. It's letters to the editors were addressed to The Herald, and its editorials always started with "We here at the Herald...." It remained in business until 1966, a heralded journalistic loss for NYC. As a kid I liked the comics, not as good as the Sunday News, but some good strips, particularly The Saint and B.C. (a predecessor for the Flintstones).

I believe the Onion had ended up being cited on more than one occasion.
